A&M had 6 drives that went inside the Miami 40, and scored only 3 points. 3 of those drives WERE IN THE 4th QUARTER.

We snuck out of there with a win so everything is rosy and I’m ****ing in Cheerios. It is a statistical outlier to go inside the 40 that many times and get only 3 points.

Oh, we also got outgained on the day 328-276.

As is becoming a common theme, we won in spite of Mario, not because of him.
 
@scrantoncane I don't understand why you're so mad at Mario here, and not the OC who got 3 total points on 4 consecutive drives that scrimmaged inside the A&M 25 yard line (the second of which was this awful drive).

Playing well enough on defense to produce a statistical outlier counts as a strike against the team/staff? None of those drives were fluky or unlucky for A&M. Miami forced negative plays when it mattered.

That's honestly a silly stat to trot out in isolation. Total yards tell you very little.

The D needed a rest and the wind was playing havoc with any deep balls. It's not like either team had a quick strike offence they could pull out - so play conservative, see if you can bust a big run, and try to go up by 3 into the half knowing you get the ball back for an opportunity to double up.

If it is Dawson then that is who I blame. But I just assume the conservative gameplan is coming from the HC. Maybe I’m wrong. But I don’t think so.

3rd down after timeout - 3rd and 8, complete to Daniels for a 1st down. :26 remaining on clock after the play.

We end up missing a long field goal and going into the half with a timeout in the pocket.

I hope enough time has passed that’s it’s okay to be critical, cause this drive was disgusting. Caveman.

Sad thing is that the 5th year QB himself has no clue about time wasted before the snap...

I don't know for certain who to blame on this specific drive, but like I posted earlier in the thread my main issue with this drive is that we gained 1 yard on 2 runs while 1:19 went off the clock. I assume it's Dawson, since he calls the plays.

The first run, while not my cup of tea I can understand, considering how Fletcher had been gashing them inside. Wild to me that there wasn't a second play called when we left the sideline, if Fletcher didn't pick up the first down. Wilder not to run tempo after the first run. Insane not to run tempo after the second run.

I think the other 3 drives inside the A&M 25 were clearly on Dawson's playcalling: 1st one there was that ridiculous formation with some of the OL split wide at the hash to run a jet sweep to Toney that got stuffed and led to s 3rd & long sack, 3rd one we didn't give Fletcher another carry after he had a 24 yard run to get us down to the 10 yard line, 4th one we ran the ridiculous MaliCat doublereverse to Beck to throw it on 1st down at the 20 and didn't get Fletcher a touch at all.

I don't think it wasnt an issue of being too conservative. Was an issue of bad playcalling on those drives. Dawson had a bad game. We managed to win. Let's hope he has a much better day calling plays against Taint.

Neg away. That’s awful coaching. We looked and played like we did in October when we dropped 2 games, but we won so everyone is sucking each others *****. Watch the tide turn if we lose next week and it isn’t pretty to watch. The same guys that are apologists this week will be the harshest critics next week.

We went to halftime with a timeout unused. Hard to blame that on Dawson.

Drives me nuts as well. Our clock management and situational awareness are both **** poor. I usually just pray those situations don’t happen lol because it will raise your blood pressure watching from afar
 
Did you watch how we completed the pass to cj. That wasn't on purpose. After Louisville, the won't let Carson sling it if he's off (wind hurt to). Based on the hand situation and defense, they played it safe. I don't love it but I also don't blame them
 
On 2nd and 3rd down (2 yards to go) we threw to end zone twice. With the wind being that bad I felt we should have run it on 3rd and 2 and gotten closer to attempt the FG. We had the timeout in hand so in my mind that was a no brainer.

We go in up 3 and get the ball to start the second half (ideally in that situation).
