My only concern about Butch's age is when it comes to recruiting. Those guys you listed have gigantic football departments and SEC cash.

Butch won't have that here and he'll have to do a ton of leg work. That sort of concerns me.

noone gets a higher percentae of recruits within a hour of the campus then UM does. Half our team is within 3 counties.

He could sign an entire really good class in a two hour drive.

My fear is that some program is going to scoop Butch up before we fire the current regime. He's definitely not too old.

Unless it's an elite program, which I don't see happening, he'd jump at the Miami gig even if he has another job.

Not to mention he doesn't even need the five star divas - he'll take a bunch of 3 stars nobody wants and turn them into monsters.

Pete Carroll 62 now
Bobby Bowden won his 1999 titles at 69

Let Butch coach for 6 years get his NC and retire

He has unfinished business at the U and bet he wants to win one title as HC not just on staff

Butch only needs 5 years here to win a title and get us back on track. its worth the investment.

Butch is an evaluator. He's not a leg work guy. That's for the young assistants. He's the best evaluator in the history of college football. That'll never change.

I wonder if he'd take the Kansas job if nobody else comes calling this offseason? I mean it's not too long ago that Mangino had them relevant and Butch is kinda familiar with the area with Arkansas and Oklahoma being neighboring states.

Only concern with Butch is he just gonna wanna collect another paycheck and be fine with it. Will he still have the desire even though this would be his last job were as before he was wanting an NFL gig.

Personally I think he will still be hungry. He wants a championship to cement his legacy as a coach. He knows he could get one here.

I doubt he'd take that job. It would negate his main strength--recruiting/evaluation. He's not a gimmick coach that could win 8 games there with some funky spread. You're not going to recruit great players to Kansas. Ever.

P.S. Pinkell would murder **** here.

Dennis Erickson approves.

Recruits know Butch.......all he has to do is point to the dozens of his past players that got drafted and played in the league. It's not a hard sell..
