The board's four favorite guys...

And Butch was his Head of recruiting from 84-88. Butch not only is responsible for the 2001 team...but if people knew who he closed on for JJ during the 84-88 teams, they'd be stunned. JJ will tell you that himself.
JJ had some great stories about Butch in his book. It was interesting to see JJ talk about Butch. Seemed like Butch was big on the technology early and could find out anything about any player. Extremely resourceful. JJ did a great job of keeping his crew together.

Butch and JJ have been friends since the early 80s....talk constantly. I love talking football with Butch, and have since 1995. I even met him in 86 when Chuck was a GA. This is me and Butch talking Defensive football in 98 in his office (day before UCLA Upset.

If Butch (Hypothetically) stays after 2000 till, let's say around 2005-06...it wouldn't have been fair...his assistants Loved him. Shannon left but Vernon Hargreaves was even better. Recruiting wouldn't have skipped a beat from 01-06...not with Curtis, Soldinger, Pagano and Kehoe's recruiting. @Brooklyndee is the only one I can talk to on this board about those days without the Haters chiming in. He knows for a fact I'm keeping it real.

@TheOriginalCane ....I Sooo miss Myrna Schneider. That Woman was beyond incredible. Not a single time did I not bring her a Bouquet of flowers when I visited. Just a fantastic woman. What she meant to UM Football players throughout her tenure at UM is completely unparalleled. @Brooklyndee will attest. That woman gave her heart and soul to that program.

ALOT of us wouldn't have made it through school let alone got anywhere in life without the lessons Ms Myrna taught us

Completely agree. She was a great one and was just an wonderful person across multiple coaches/ADs.

Hope that one in the middle can become successful like the others. Please. PLEASE. PLLLLLEEEEEASE!
Guys have to realize how reactionary all this is though. Imagine if social media was back then what it is now. Y'all would've been flying banners on jimmy coming off a national championship and going 8-5. Won't even go into how quickly y'all would've tried to run Butch off. The reality is Mario took on a job that's somewhere between what butch was taking over and what jimmy took over. Contrast going far heavier towards butch than jimmy. We just gotta give him time and let him work. He's proven he knows how to build a successful program. So just sit back and let him do it. Well all be Gucci.

Honestly she was our one constant. Where most would never comprehend is throughout all those years when people would preach on the family atmosphere SHE was at the forefront of all of that for multiple coaches,ad,school presidents. It didn't matter. She was always there for us and no one no matter how big or small made a difference to her. You could be a walk on or an all American and she still was there with a smile and a hug each and every morning.
