The board's four favorite guys...

Sounds like somebody’s getting roped into carrying a couch up stairs

Siesta Key (plenty of public access)

Wait, what's up with Longboat and limited access? Is that new? Beaches, or the whole island? I don't seem to remember that, though my sister and aunt live in the area and they know a lot of people, maybe I just never noticed.

That's a view of the north end of Longboat, right? I usually drive on from the south.

So should we have fired Mario after getting blown out by Middle Tennessee?

Fair question for sure, but no because:

Cristobal had a solid track record as Oregon's head coach and has shown glimpses of being an elite recruiter.

Diaz was a political hire with very limited upside from Day 1

Legit response.

It's been mentioned a ton of times....UM offered him a decent Top 10-20 salary (1.3 million per year, average, while he was getting 900K average under the original 7-year deal), but with a huge buyout (in case he wanted to leave for the NFL) and a low payout (in case UM fired him).

Browns paid him about $4M per year, so about triple his UM offer.

Not to mention....no raises for his assistants...(hence Chuck going to Cleveland with him) and constant scrutiny about recruiting expenditures amongst other things. I could go on and on, but refuse to, because it wouldn't mean a thing to the haters.

Yeah, I've gone back-and-forth on this for years. I think that the adversarial nature would have eased up under Shalala (compared to Foote), but the "big money" didn't really show up until we left for the ACC.

And AT THAT TIME, the college coaching salaries were not bumping up quite as rapidly as NFL. Butch and Chuck (and later Chud) probably made more money "failing" in the NFL than they did "succeeding" in college. Sad.

@Rellyrell ....without question the nicest beaches in Fl. The Panhandle (Destin, South Walton) at one time were close to being equal...but not anymore. Siesta Key and Longboat Key are unquestionably the nicest in the state, and have been for a long time. Sanibel and Captiva are Gorgeous...but their beaches always pretty much consisted of shells. And have been battered as of late.
South Walton best I've seen. But has been a long time.
