The biggest problem facing Miami…

2/3 of the penalties are on the offensive line. Aggressive teams are always going to have penalties and you live with the occasional off sides or pass interference because guys got a little too aggressive but the fact that our line false starts three or four times a game when our head coach is just a de facto line coach is something they should be ashamed of

The pre-snap stuff, false starts, etc., needs to get cleaned up, do that an we will improve some, but I don't expect a Mario team to ever rise above top 50 in this department, 50 to 75 is more realistic. He emphasizes killing them with aggression, physicality and talent.

I am with this. The pre-snap stuff is intolerable. While Mario is an aggressive coach, we do not have a lot of penalties of aggression, such as late hits or PI's. And we do a pretty good job of not responding to efforts to goad us into retaliation. Just weird.

Dear Deejays,

You're right, we suck, and we'll do better. I've called a staff meeting.

PLAYERS NOTIFIED.

XOXOXO,

Santo Mario

SJ just got flagged for another false start...

...and he's on Greentree.

14 ACC teams at 67 or worse.

Seems more likely that penalty issues are the refs...
Totally agree. Anyone who watches other conferences can tell you the ACC has the most flag-happy refs. By far.

I think having out-of-conference refs during the playoffs really helped us, given our physical style of play.

Also, from what Ahmmon said, Pitt was messing with us pre-snap that was borderline simulating the snap counts.

Penalty yards per game has never been a great indicator of anything. Alabama under Saban was pretty bad a lot of years.

It's more about when you get those penalties. The 30 yards of penalties against FSU on one drive was WAY different than the couple false starts we had against Pitt. That's the stuff you need to avoid. False start on 3rd and 1 is different than a false start on 1st and 10.
