The biggest concern for this FSU game is Beck..

Here's an easy exercise.

Imagine we're 2-2 right now with losses to ND and UF. It could easily be the case if Carson wasn't BAILED OUT by the rest of the team.

Against ND, Carson, under pressure, threw a terrible pass into coverage as the 2nd quarter was ending. It just so happened that CJ made an incredible catch AND the ND DB went braindead at the same time. It turned what could have been an INT and should have easily been at least incomplete into a TD.

Against UF, after he threw the pick, if the defense doesn't step up, we end up going DOWN 14-13. Defense bailed him out. Maybe we go on to win the game either way with our defense and run game, but it would have been despite Carson's bad game, not because of him.

How much would you hate Carson right now if all his stats and throws were exactly the same, but we were 2-2?

Up to this point, Carson has been serviceable. Completes a lot of passes, even though not great accuracy. Makes mostly good decisions. But he has had a tendency in the past to make bad decisions when under pressure and his accuracy isn't always the greatest. So a slightly off game or amazing DB play can lead to bad games for him. We only need him to be serviceable though. That's how this team is built..he has to make good decisions, easy throws, and throw the ball away. He just can't make the backbreaking turnover at the worst time (which is exactly what he did at UF AND almost did at ND if it weren't for an amazing CJ Daniels catch).

And when I watch him and observe him, I suspect he's the kind of guy that doesn't rally when bad things happen. His highs take him higher but his lows take him lower. He retreats in the face of adversity, not rises and leads..it's gonna take Anez, Fletcher, CJ, to keep Carson's head up if he has a bad game.

Let's hope he is the game manager we need and not think he needs to be a hero like Cam was.
Apparently you didn't watch 2024 Carson. He still picked teams apart and threw for over 300 yards multiple times after making an early mistake. He threw 3 INT's vs Florida (only 1 was stupid) and still shredded them to pieces and led the game winning drive late. He led them back vs Alabama. He led them back vs GT. Lots of comeback games by Beck last season. He led us to the game clinching drive vs Notre Dame.

This is lame AF post. Talking about what if's had a pass he completed been intercepted. It wasn't. Let's try this what if.....what if it had been intercepted and he still went out there and won the game? Get your head in the game and stop this soft crap.

his "game winning drive" against ND was a 46 yard drive that only had one complete pass in it (for 9 yards)... matter of fact when we had a 1st down and a chance to clinch the game with one more first down, the coaches didn't even let him throw the ball.. we ran it three straight times and settled for a field goal and coaches deferred to depending on the defense to win the game...

i'm not saying carson is a bad quarterback.. i'm saying he's a good one but I hope we don't get a situation where we have to depend on him to win the game.. that's it..

Oh no the horror. He would've also had a game winning 50 yard TD had the ND db not tackled Kee. Since you count what-if there ya go.

I just don't understand trying to bring this man down. Why?

We most likely won't have a better QB than Beck next season. Enjoy good QB play while it's here.

saying we have concerns about him and pointing out his potential flaws isn't "bringing him down"... there are stats to back up both sides...

For a few reasons.

He puts the ball in harms way too much. Turnovers on the road get the fans going.

He is coming off back to back games throwing INT's. You could tell the coaches pulled back offense in UF game, because they were losing faith in his ability to throw ball past 10 yards.

Another reason, he has thrown INTs in over 70% of road starts in his career.

In 2023 he was 6 TDs and 3 INTs in true road games. He threw a INT in 3 of the 4 road games.

In 2024 he was 3 TDs and 7 INTs in true road games. He threw a pick in 3 of 4 true road games.

FSU is going to sell out vs. the run, and try to force Beck and passing game to beat them.

Beck and WRs will have opportunities to make plays, they need to make them.

I am not worried about Miami really in any other capacity for this game other than the QB. If he plays well and protects the football Miami will win.
Even if FSU puts 7-8 in the box, we're running the ball and they are not stopping us.

I am confident with Beck. I predict a big game from him.

We beat them with Malik Rosier, N'kosi Perry, Jarren Williams, and **** near beat them with Emory Williams. I sincerely believe Carson Beck is a better quarterback than any of those.
That is nothing. I know I am dating myself but in 2007 Kirby Freeman beat FSU!

Brief recap:

Kirby Freeman, who was 1-8 with two interceptions, then orchestrated a perfect touchdown drive that seemingly came out of nowhere, capped off by a 13 yard touchdown pass to tight end, Dedrick Epps. With 1:15 to go, Miami had a 30-29 lead. Miami iced the game when Teraz McCray stripped the ball from Xavier Lee with a minute remaining, forcing a fumble that Miami’s Colin McCarthy scooped up and returned for a TD!

Beck had 12 interceptions in 2024.

Watching tape on it, roughly seven of those picks were on the receivers, not him.

Georgia also had no running game last year—202nd in the nation—and a trash o-line ... so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Dawson isn't going to put Beck in position to have to win this game—and IF the Noles sellout to stop the run, that opens up the passing game, making picks less likely.

Either way, stats can get skewed and that feels like the case here.

Beck has to hit the intermediate and deep throws.

I’d expect FSU to fully sell out to stop the run. I’d expect 1st and 2nd down run blitzes to force us to hitting clear pass downs on 3rd and 5-6+… FSU is absolutely going to load the box early downs. We gotta be able to hit some play action for 15-25 yard chunks or more.

The pass game needs to step up this game. And we gotta hit some explosives.
