The biggest concern for this FSU game is Beck..

They simply saw that our D was controlling Florida’s Offense so if you can run the ball and win, why wouldn’t you do that on a wet field?
Imagine the response of the fan base if Dawson had Beck throwing the ball aggressively and turnovers occurred leading to a Florida win…
Fans would have been losing their minds and stating the obvious that we could have won the game by running the ball right at Florida and taking advantage of their depleted DL. I think the passing game will continue to improve as Beck and the receiving corps have finally been getting some reps together.

Stop making sense.
Nearly impossible to keep this fanbase happy.
We could win the natty and fans would still be complaining about the score or the way it was won.

I honestly think this is true of most college QB’s, not just Beck. How many a really good when moved off their spot? Not Klubnick, Allar, Nussmeier, Lagway, or all the other media darlings.

But the ability to throw off the split is what made Cam, Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels so special.
 
The biggest liability is at center… brockermeyer has to get his head out of his *** and act like a 4th year senior.

False starting and killing drives like he did against Florida can’t happen again. It’s bad enough I think he’s the weakest link on the line to boot at blocking

He was mediocre against UF. That's what he was. I've seen far worse in big games. Then again, it's CIS, where stupidity reigns supreme.

You know….Castellanos has just as much of a history of throwing the ball to the other team.
 
My biggest concern is the secondary getting caught ball watching (pause) with all that gimmick ****. We gave up a long pass play to USF that way. I think they are gonna move the pocket, a lot of motion and play action. All the **** that killed us last year.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. Beck has more experience than any player that will be on the field. He is the least of my concerns. The middle of the field will be open all night.
 
For those worried about rain, I believe that only helps us. First off, every game has been played in rain so we should be prepared. Second, our OL vs a 3-3-5 will not be pretty for FSU. We already are going to get push and push piles. We are already going to attack the underneath zone with Lofton and Toney. This will force the back 3 closer to the line into more action and less deep support.

On D, our front 7 is the absolute strength of this team along with OL. They are not going to give up nearly as much ground in a 4-3 with our size, speed, and strength. I haven’t seen to ends set the edge in college this year any better than 3/4. The only question IMO is do our top 6 play too many snaps and get gassed or does the O play ball control to the point that we are in the clear.

I do believe we give up points, more than most thing. Boys will get gassed due to tempo at one or two points. Time management will get stressed on D with timeouts needed for subs. Being able to handle them scoring and matching it with another long boring 10 play 7 min drive eating up 20-30 minutes will help us a ton. Beck should be told to drop off in the flats or run as much as possible vs forcing anything deep. We will have 7 games to play far more reckless to rack up stats for his heisman trophy.

Funny I state actual facts, and you respond with "stupidity" as a comeback.

Beck has not been an elite QB on the road, that is FACT.

He has thrown a lot of INT's on the road, that is FACT.

He was bad in his last game this season, that is FACT. He has thrown 3 INT's in the last 2 games, both at home, that is FACT.

I also said if he plays well, and doesn't turn the ball over we will be fine.

I am not concerned about our OL, our running game, our DL. I am most concerned with Beck and the passing game going on the road where home field advantage favors the defense.

I am not saying he is going to play bad, I think he will be fine, but it is my top concern.
 
Here's an easy exercise.

Imagine we're 2-2 right now with losses to ND and UF. It could easily be the case if Carson wasn't BAILED OUT by the rest of the team.

Against ND, Carson, under pressure, threw a terrible pass into coverage as the 2nd quarter was ending. It just so happened that CJ made an incredible catch AND the ND DB went braindead at the same time. It turned what could have been an INT and should have easily been at least incomplete into a TD.

Against UF, after he threw the pick, if the defense doesn't step up, we end up going DOWN 14-13. Defense bailed him out. Maybe we go on to win the game either way with our defense and run game, but it would have been despite Carson's bad game, not because of him.

How much would you hate Carson right now if all his stats and throws were exactly the same, but we were 2-2?

Up to this point, Carson has been serviceable. Completes a lot of passes, even though not great accuracy. Makes mostly good decisions. But he has had a tendency in the past to make bad decisions when under pressure and his accuracy isn't always the greatest. So a slightly off game or amazing DB play can lead to bad games for him. We only need him to be serviceable though. That's how this team is built..he has to make good decisions, easy throws, and throw the ball away. He just can't make the backbreaking turnover at the worst time (which is exactly what he did at UF AND almost did at ND if it weren't for an amazing CJ Daniels catch).

And when I watch him and observe him, I suspect he's the kind of guy that doesn't rally when bad things happen. His highs take him higher but his lows take him lower. He retreats in the face of adversity, not rises and leads..it's gonna take Anez, Fletcher, CJ, to keep Carson's head up if he has a bad game.

Let's hope he is the game manager we need and not think he needs to be a hero like Cam was.
 
I think that the OP has some legitimate points, and I think they are worth pointing out, but my biggest concern is us staying disciplined on defense, and not letting their QB run all day. Not dismissing OP's points but I think Carson Beck will be fine, and even has a bounce back game.
