Tape looks absolutely beastly to me, and I know how you feel, been raving for over a year now.

******* clown show.

Miami's plan coming out of July was to win and flip. They are already woking on Phase 2 of the plan. Some notes below:

- One name where Miami has made a major move: Syracuse commit WR Calvin Russell. He was at the Rock when his close friend Malachi Toney broke out in primetime, and the Orange got smoked by Tennessee. Still work to be done but the Canes are surging.

- I don't know if a ton of flips are imminent, as the Canes are still learning about their current roster and the recruits are still learning about the Canes. But they are making progress with a number of big names. Some players to watch over the course of the season: DT James Johnson (Northwestern), DE Anthony Jones (Mobile), S Ayden Pouncey (Orlando), S Jett Washington (Las Vegas) and more. I know there are reports that RB Derrek Cooper is fading as an option, but I heard we are still firmly in the mix.

- One name to watch as our 2027 QB: Trent Seaborn (Birmingham, AL). The Hawaii-born passer is at South Carolina this weekend and is also looking at Oregon, Alabama and Auburn. He visited Miami unofficially in spring and will be back in town this month. As a sophomore, Seaborn threw for 2,675 yards (64%) and 26 TDs with 7 INTs. He threw for 2,601 yards and 27 TDs as a freshman. Here he is last week against Georgia powe, Grayson:

If we continue to go after portal every year kids like Nickel and Coleman aren’t going to just hang around to stand next to Mario. At some point you have to play the kids you recruit and trust your evals…
Literally every single top college is doing this. If you don’t have a qb ready the portal method is great.

“Bryce Fitzgerald can’t tackle”

I was a big time fan of Fitzgerald as a recruit. The critics of his speed were reacting to bad intel and too lazy to verify themselves that he was legit elite. But to be fair to the guys worried about his tackling, his film didn’t show a willing tackler. It showed a ball hawk pick machine who also was an excellent WR. Not a guy who wanted to make an open field tackle.

Avoiding contact is often a really hard behavior to train out of a kid. But Fitzgerald looks to be so talented and committed to being a great football player that he will be the exception.

By that logic Emory should be the starter right now
