The Bank (7/2)

Yes and no. In Cristobal year 1 we were told very clearly the O had issues in fall camp and we ended see the full failure of a Gattis O. Its most important to usually focus on what isn't said or avoided as that's typically telling, especially if its coming from a more sunshine pump source.
Perhaps I am remembering wrong as I swore that we heard all off season how impressed the staff was with how the team looked which is why the 5-7 season was even more of a gut punch than it already would have been. It was only after the season started to go downhill that we heard about how 'shocked' Mario was when he arrived to see the state of the team.

Great minds think alike.

Folks sit n make fun of UF recreuting abilities on here and they are a flagship sec program in state. Oklahoma was a great comparison. Mizzou isnt doing any better being in the sec if so its minimal.

We pretty much can walk in and take/flip whoever we want from the other schools u listes save for south carolina occasional kids. So what does that do or say about their conference recruiting prowess.

You spend money in recruiting you will have good classes....n thats not just bags to recruits....im talking budgets (national) and recruiting departments.
bruh these people wont listen, goalpost will be moved back and another narrative will be eaten up soon. All they have to do is watch someone from social media say one seat was empty in the stadium and it cost us a 5 star, and they will roll with it for 5 years.

Do you think the Lore of the Magical #35 Return Man Jersey Mystery will last more or less than five years?
I got the over.

This is a great post imo

@DMoney … If we are at 105 schollies…Why is Redding on the back burner? Why the cold shoulder to Hughes? We don't have a natural safety commit (Sure I understand some kids are versatile)…You can throw STA another bone for the future and take a guy like Daniel Norman instead of instead of praying one of the Bama Des come aboard. Why was every other local WR option ignored just because Keys mentions UM on occasion and we had to make sure we were in Jase Matthews' top 7?

That's puzzling to me.
Hey @Andrew there’s a pretty cool little glitch in the system here. I mean I won’t take advantage of it but there’s some real rogue type of Maude’s I can’t always control.

Not me of course.

OR - If our HC leaves the decision making to Dawson and Hetherman during games…

The positive? Mario left the offensive decision-making to Dawson and Ward last year.

The negative? Mario left the defensive decision-making to Guidry last year.

This won't be everyone's favorite update, but I need to give it like I get it.

Bottom line- I don't get the sense we're headed for a blockbuster two weeks. The message I'm getting is that the plan is to win key some battles, go into the season with a healthy class, perform on the field, and then take it to the next level with flips.

We saw that happen in the Class of 2024, and we saw it go the other way in 2025. So we'll see. This is a unique era in college football. There's a sense that if they go for broke now, they'll be in a worse position down the stretch and potentially create issues within the roster. But they also need to go into the season with a high-enough floor. Here's the latest:

- I continue to get confidence on RB Derrek Cooper (Chaminade). He remains the top target on the board.

- I"m getting less confidence on WR Tristen Keys (Hattiesburg, MS) than last week. As we've said, this is a high-profile recruitment with every school thinking they have a chance. Miami will continue to push until the end.

- Nobody has any clue where WR Calvin Russell (Northwestern) is headed. One of the more up-in-the-air recruitments in a while.

- The Canes are battling hard on S Blake Stewart (Atlanta). Clemson is a top contender but it's not a foregone conclusion by any means. He is a big priority.

- OL Breck Kolojay (IMG) is continuing with his process. He was pretty candid in his last interview with on3 that he's monitoring NIL deals and weighing different factors between Miami, Georgia and USC. That's a very professional process and Miami is battling.

- Miami has a good chance to flip CB Brody Jennings (Jacksonville). They have coveted him throughout this process.

- TE Heze Kent (Brunswick, GA) is still communicating with our staff. Texas and Florida are in there but Miami is alive. TE Zachery Turner (Dallas) is trending away after SMU took its financial commitment to another level.

- The Canes are also in the mix for DL Bryce Perry-Wright (Atlanta). That one is up in the air and will be decided over the next few days.

- On the football side, there is huge confidence from those observing workouts. They believe this is the best, most complete roster we've had in the Cristobal era by a good amount. I continue to hear rave reviews about Carson Beck's arm talent and overall skillset.
Losing Keys and Cooper can’t happen. Need to win those battles

How do you explain Mizzou, LSU, Florida, USC, Penn State, Ole Miss etc having signed more of these players (top 5 at their position) than Miami in the NIL era?

As per usual, your "factual" claims are full of crap.

Methodology:
---Used the schools that cway cited
---Since July 2021 when NIL was allowed
---Through the Class of 2025, since current recruits have not yet been signed
---Used the COMPOSITE rankings
---Did not count JuCos (unless you really want to give Miami credit for Shemar Kirk)

As per usual, cway went 50-50. Three of the schools he cited had "more of these players (top 5 at their position) than Miami in the NIL era". But three of the schools he cited did not.

And for the record, if Dennis Smith had not screamed at Drake Stubbs and driven him to flip to Hogtown, then only 2 of the schools cway cited would have had more "top 4 players at their position". And it's the schools we expected, LSU and USC.

Mario has done a good job of raising the floor of the program, however I don’t see anyone on the roster or the current commits for ‘26 as difference makers.

We have been striking out on the elite talent guys like Duke Johnson and AR82. Duke was signed in 2012 and AR in 2016. AR didn’t even play a full career..we signed Duke 13 years ago.

Until we get more of these guys across all positions like OSU, UGA, UT, etc has…this program will remain in purgatory with an occasional playoff appearance and the elusive ACC championship.

It’s easy to say “up the bag” but the top programs also recruit at an elite level because they can match us in that department, and they have the recency bias of relevancy nationally.
