The Bank (6/25)

Or maybe his NIL demands came down to realistic levels?

Not saying that is exactly what happened but there was a lot of chatter on 247 boards that he heard unrealistic demands which kind of make sense when you look at his 247 profile. He only visited Miami, Arkansas, and Missouri. Dudes with his size and athleticism are in his demand, they don’t stay home half the weekends in June.
Maybe but I wasn’t commenting on his skill set more so which way DT recruiting is trending where the dude visited less than a month ago and every Canes site said we would no longer be pursuing then his name suddenly pops up again just as we’re losing traction with most of the DTs we assumed we were leading for throughout that month.

In any event, let’s be real dudes his size with his athleticism that are REALLY in demand don’t stay home half the weekends in June regardless of how outrageous their NIL demands may be.

We’re doing really well. I do not want to be a crab in the bucket but I am worried about DT and LB recruiting. It’s a soft spot on this team rn and has to turn into a strength. Only way back to the top is with DTs. Look back over the last 20 years. Almost all the natty champs had at least one top tier dt or two.

Long post from perplexity @Lance Roffers @DMoney

Over the past 25 college football national championship winners (from the 2000 season through the 2024 season), a significant number have had a starting defensive tackle drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. Based on the available data and specific examples from recent years:

- **2024 Ohio State**: Michael Hall Jr., a starting defensive tackle, was drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft[1].
- **2023 Michigan**: Kris Jenkins, a starting defensive tackle, was drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft[1].
- **2022 Georgia**: Travon Walker, a starting defensive tackle, was the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft[2].
- **2021 Georgia**: Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt, both starting defensive tackles, were drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft (not shown in the search results, but widely documented).
- **2020 Alabama**: Christian Barmore, a key defensive tackle, was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft[3].

From the code result, which analyzed a sample of five recent champions, four had a starting defensive tackle drafted in the first three rounds. This trend is consistent with the broader pattern observed over the past 25 years, as many championship teams feature elite defensive line talent that transitions early to the NFL.

**Summary Table (Recent Examples):**

| Year | Champion | Starting DT Drafted in Top 3 Rounds? |
|------|--------------|--------------------------------------|
| 2024 | Ohio State | Yes (Michael Hall Jr., Round 2) |
| 2023 | Michigan | Yes (Kris Jenkins, Round 2) |
| 2022 | Georgia | Yes (Travon Walker, Round 1) |
| 2021 | Georgia | Yes (Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt, Round 1) |
| 2020 | Alabama | Yes (Christian Barmore, Round 2) |

**Estimate for the Past 25 Champions:**
While the exact number for all 25 years requires a detailed year-by-year roster and draft analysis, the available data and the code sample suggest that approximately 80% (or 20 out of 25) of national champions had a starting defensive tackle drafted in the first three rounds. The code result, using a small sample, found 4 out of 5 champions fit this criterion. This is consistent with the reputation of championship teams for having elite defensive line talent.

**Conclusion:**
Of the past 25 football national championship winners, it is estimated that about 20 had a starting defensive tackle drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft, illustrating the importance of elite interior defensive line play in championship success.

Osu had 2. The NT Tyleik Williams was a 1st round pick by the lions. And if you want to go deeper that Michigan team that won had graham and grant on that team and they both just went 1st round. So they had 2 first round and a 2nd round pick at DT on that championship team

I'm a Mario homer. But I am tired of the DT recruiting here. I know Damione Lewis is brand new, and Salave'a disappointed. But this **** is ridiculous.
2022 - Moten
2023 - Horton (transfer)
2024 - Scott and Jones
2025 - Simpson
2026 - No one

I know we also got Bain, Mesidor, Blount, Newton and Bacon (verbal). But they're not true DTs. They have other roles to fill. On first and second down, on 3rd/4th and short,. who are our TACKLES?

Who are our tackles? Blay, Scott, Moten.

Who are any of the other top 12 teams in the countries tackles?

Good points and even more important in underscoring the importance of the position
