The Bank (6/16)

If Calvin Russell didn't love basketball so much, and was only focused on football, Mario may offer him similiar NIL package as Keys.

Mario wants players that eat, breathe, sleep, love football.

Russell wont even become a NFL draft pick if he doesnt give up bball IMO. He has huge upside at WR, but he needs a lot of work. If he focuses on just football, he is talented enough to shake Goodell's hand in 4 years.

In regards to Beard, I thought his last 2 classes were really good. Maybe best back to back WR classes Miami has signed in a long time with JoJo, Ny Carr, Chance, Toney, Moore, and Upshaw. I think you have 3 draftable WRs from that group minimum.

In regards to Beard, I don't know man flipping a 4 star UGA committ, and a 4 star Tennesee commit, and signing the most productive South Florida WR wouldn't be bad at all.

Detached tight end sounds like a condition an IG model gets after a botched plastic surgery.

Plenty will lie and say otherwise, but it’d be underwhelming for sure.
I’ve tried to convince myself that would be a really solid class. My realistic Canes brethren remind me that we just had the #1 offense in the nation and Dawson has shown that WRs EAT within his scheme.

I want these dudes but, yes, we need a Keys type after that explosion last year.

We need to have a conversation about Beard’s recruiting because how does a team have the #1 offense then struggle to land top WRs
And being able to point to another QB (Beck) who went 24-3 in the sec throwing for 7,500+ yards and 50+ TDs over the last 2 years. Yeah he’s done after this year but Miami is establishing they will do what they need to do to bring in one of the top QBs every year whether through the portal or HS.

Beard ain’t coming back next year if he doesn’t land a Keys or Russell lol
Yea I hate, cause Beard has been a good on field coach. But he’s left quite a bit to be desired in recruiting. I wouldn’t call him dead weight but there’s just too many misses on blue chippers.

Doesn't sound so great with Brown. I don't like the idea of trying to flip these 5 star kids at signing day. With NIL, it's been shown getting these kids to commit in the summer is what you want to do. Never doubting Mario in recruiting and I trust what @1murhurricane brings to the table but I don't like the sound of this update on him. Sucks to hear abotu Zion Robinson too, really like that kids tape and think he's a player at this level.

Everything sounds excellent though. Especially on the James Johnson front. Huge need and he's an impact type of player.

Thanks for the update D$. Plot is thickening, see just have to stay the course and keep battling.

Any updates on Texas WR Brayden Robinson? Really hate the news on the Dallas WR. Also, any updates on the Texas TE we’ve been targeting?

Interior DL has been a pretty consistent concern minus the 2024 class. Last year's class was extremely underwhelming with Simpson really being the only interior guy we took last year.

We're starting to get a clearer picture of what the class may look like this year and it does not look good in terms of big bodies.

Simpson - 280 lbs (2025 class)
Bacon - 263 lbs (2026 commit)
Lamar Brown - 285 lbs
James Johnson - 285 lbs
Stancil - 270 lbs

You can't go two years in a row without getting a 300+ lb kid on the interior. That just seems like gross mismanagement and will result in needing to spend big money (and/or reach) in the portal to fill a high priority position.

What's the approach here? Is there a big body they're going to go all in?

I’d imagine his future is more dictated by how Jojo and the current roster performs this year….

We know he can coach, but he’s struggled to land the difference maker in recruiting and the portal. If it happens another year, I don’t see how Mario would want him back. Especially when there were already rumors in February/March that he was about to leave
