gonna need to spend a ton in the portal. By my estimation we need starter level players at:

1 QB
4 OL
2 TE
2-3 WR
1 RB
3-4 DL/DEs

That’s not including backfilling any portal outs. Unless there are some dudes that are just hanging around on the roster that are gonna all of a sudden step up but I’m guessing not since we would have seen them at some positions to replace guys that aren’t playing well. Not a great look for 2026 needing to raid the portal again just to field a team with a coach who is a “great recruiter”.

Wow,17 portal starters going into year 5.

Ya that's way too negative an outlook…We don't need 17 portal starters

Really. Who are these replacements, who haven’t seen the field even though this years guys are walking penalties, missed assignments, and terrible at things like blocking.

Start on the OL…..banking on another true freshman Mauigoa? He played against elite comp week in week out in HS. You can’t expect Cantwell is gonna come in and start? Who are the replacements at guard who haven’t taken snaps from guys who jump the snap every game in inopportune moments? How about center? The high 4* kid from out west who looks small?

DL we might not need starters beyond a couple of DTs but we’re definitely gonna need depth.

WR? Or are we banking on another true freshman baby Jesus walking through the door?

How’s that TE room looking?

Or are we just resigning ourselves to the belief that the coaching staff is so lacking they’re sitting better players not knowing what they have?

How about QB? Coming up on year 5. Roster full of 3* projects.

Recruiting presses on after a tough weekend in Dallas. Here is the latest on the 2026 and 2027 classes:

- I know Georgia has entered the picture for Blake Stewart (Atlanta, GA), but Miami remains fully engaged. He is a huge priority at safety and the feedback remains very positive.

- I also like the Canes' momentum with DE DeAnthony Lafayette (Orlando, FL). He is built like a big RB (6'1, 230) but he's athletic like a RB, which is why he's been getting carries. He's also a natural pass rusher with big-time sack production.

- The Canes are hosting Penn State decommit DT Isaac Chukwurah (Bear, DE) and Pittsburgh commit DL Logan Nagle (North NJ) this weekend. Nagle has already visited earlier this season. Both players are automatic takes. Their recruitment has nothing to do with the bigger names like Nolan Wilson (Picayune, MS), Dre Quinn (Atlanta, GA), Anthony Jones (Mobile, AL) and Bryce Perry-Wright (Atlanta, GA). Miami remains engaged with all of those names and they are all takes. The Canes want to stack defensive linemen.

- WR Vance Spafford (Orange County, CA) lost his senior season to a foot injury, but he is visiting this weekend and appears locked in with the Canes.

- The Canes are also hosting a bevy of blue-chip 2027 prospects, including a group of talented RBs and EDGEs. This includes the #1 RB in the country for 2027, Kemon Spell (Pittsburgh, PA). A list of key 2027 visitors is below:

Kemon Spell, #1 RB in nation (Pittsburgh, PA)

Brayden Tyson, #17 RB in nation (Atlanta, GA)

Elijah Kimble, #13 RB in nation (Buffalo, NY)

Jaiden Bryant, #5 DE in nation (Columbia, SC)

Chaz Gray, #14 player in NJ (Northern NJ)

Jackson Vaughn, #5 EDGE in America for 2028 (Northern NJ, possible reclass)

Josh Sam-Epelle, #8 OT in America (Atlanta, GA)

Straight garbage, but that’s what happens when you blow it for the second season in a row.

maybe he discovered the lighter so he doesn't have to rub two sticks together on game day

We are still a top 15-20 team in CFB… So yeah we have some pretty good starters.

Yes we need all of that...

No we don't need 17, you are exaggerating.

All five of our OL have taken terrible penalties all season long. That tells me there’s no one behind them that’s better than them or as good as them. our starting running back will leave this year. The two guys that share snaps with him are probably a step down from him. So we will need a feature running back. We obviously need a quarterback because that position’s been mismanaged. Two of our starting three wide receivers are leaving. again they’re not world beaters which means the guys beneath them are probably not as good. Right there is eight. should we talk about the defense?

Edited to add oh I forgot about tight end that’s two more starters that need replacing. Again if either of the freshman were that guy they’d be on the field.

Keep pumping sunshine. We’re in the top 20. With a top 5NIL roster.

QB
2 starters for the OL. Most likely a Center and a tackle.
2 TEs - need a good blocking TE at least
1-2 WR #'s but it depends on who may or may not leave this offseason
RBs- Hot take - Move Lofton to RB full time to fulfil the Greentree Prophecy
3 DLine- need some experienced bodies
1 LB - need to bring in a guy with experience

Is Brantley leaving or do we have a solid nickel for next year?

That’s part of our run game issues this year. Fletcher has had a few spots where he should have housed it, he just doesn’t have that club in the bag
Yea we do not have high end backs that can dominate good teams let alone basic teams. We haven't had a guy like that in along time

Who are all of these OL that are gonna step in? And if any were that good why are the starters being sat down when they destroy drives with penalties? Outside of Samson who are the others that have seen the field for meaningful snaps?

McCoy and Samson + Cantwell next year is who I'm assuming will be starting for Miami along with 2 transfers.

That’s a big assumption on Cantwell. Don’t think he is the level of Mauigoa as a freshman. Regardless year 5 and we’ll still need transfers on the talent accumulators primary position of focus. Reminds me of all those years Saban needed transfer DBs to fill spots.

I think we'll bring in

1- QB…Most likely a top 5-6 portal QB. But if nickel develops, maybe just an experienced backup. Would lean starter
0-1 RB…Depends on whether we lose 1 or 2 from this group. Lofton could provide
1 WR…2 if Trader leaves, I'm already counting on 2 leaving.
0-1 TE… Could see us bringing in 1 or just banking on a better season from Lofton and then unleashing Schott/Gilbert. Now if we lose someone, yeah we likely replace with potal.
1 OL…. You guys may be right, it may be two. The chances of two go up if Bell leaves.

1 DT…With a chance of 2
1 DE…I wouldn't be surprised if we lose 1 here, but I think we bring in one either way, and would have to lose a couple to bring in more than one.
1-2 LB…I lean 2 here, and I think we lose couple.
1 DB…Either a safety or nickle. I think we lose 3 minimum, but bringing in a big frosh class
1 K

I think we'll bring in somewhere between 9-11 (I expect we'll lose a few more than that, likely between 11 and 13, now if lose more than that the number we bring in will have to go up)
