Question on how long Leavitt will be out. IIRC he won't be back to practicing as quickly as Beck was and therefore will have less time to sync with the receivers.
Fletcher had the same injury in December 2023 and practiced in August 2024 and played on 8/31 - basically exactly 8 months later. 7 months before he was full speed and cleared for practice.Question on how long Leavitt will be out. Ok real reason comes out here lol.Sam Leavitt does not fit Dawsons system, he is not accurate enough. Leavitt has a 61.4% career completion percentage.
Here are the completion percentage for every QB Dawson has started, for a full season, as a P4 OC.
TVD is the least accurate QB Dawson has ever started for a full season and he is more accurate than Leavitt, let that sink in for a moment. Now add in the injury, HARD PASS!!
- 2012 West Virginia: Geno Smith 71.2%
- 2014 West Virginia: Clint Trickett 67.1%
- 2021 Houston: Clayton Tune 68.2%
- 2022 Houston: Clayton Tune 67.3%
- 2023 Miami: Tyler Van Dyke 65.8%
- 2024 Miami: Cam Ward 67.2%
- 2025 Miami: Carson Beck 74.5%
No, the injury is number #1. I fear losing an early game because the starting QB doesn’t practice with the team until fall camp. With teams already having a limited number of practices that time is valuable. In the first half of the season Beck routinely under threw or over threw guys, you could just see he wasn’t in sink with them. I would prefer someone who can come in and hit the ground running from day one with the team.Ok real reason comes out here lol.
Its not about the injury, its the fact you think hes a bad fit.
Our involvement in the QB portal so far has been much less than I would've expected. Almost makes me think we have our guy already and told him to stay in school until the portal opens.Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt
The three schools that continue to be tied to Sam Leavitt the most are Indiana, Oregon and LSU. Miami was also initially mentioned, but it’s unclear at this point where he is on the board for the Hurricanes.
For me, everything is relative. Yea, QB being out is a negative. No, the injury is number #1. I fear losing an early game because the starting QB doesn’t practice with the team until fall camp. Maybe Weigman? Does Nuss have another year? For me, everything is relative. Yea, QB being out is a negative.
But what if:
Bailey: stays at NC ST
Sorsby: Texas Tech
Hoover: Indiana
Raiola: Oregon
Rocco Becht: Penn state
Then what?
