The Athletic: Sam Leavitt possibly to Miami or TTU

Beck has always been a very accurate passer. His issue is throwing to the wrong team when he does throw’s incompletions which is why I was hesitant on taking him. Thats why you need to look at the entire pie not just one stat. But completion % is a part of the pie. Yes there’s exceptions of guys playing in easy read air raid offenses but I’ll always want a guy with a high completion percentage. College or pro.
I have to push back on this. Beck’s ball placement is subpar to me. He might get it to the target but where the ball lands tend to cause the receivers and TE to make abnormal adjustments to the ball and kill their stride. Look at Lofton's TD against NC State. Marion has caught at least 5 slants this season where he has had to contort his body to catch the ball.

If we are going the portal right, why can’t we at least find someone to be around 2 years and get familiar with the system?
yeah, I would hate to sign a guy from the portal, and have him skip spring, fall, meetings, have his own copy of the playbook that he can study on his own, but instead, sign him from the portal and the first time he interacts with the offense is game one of 2026 season.

I wholeheartedly do not understand the deal with Bailey around here outside of this board.

He's a good college QB with inconsistent mechanics playing in a wide open offense. What I saw on Saturday should absolutely steer people away from him.
He’s from florida

Can we outbid Texas Tech here?

Legit asking
Nope
If TT wants him, they will outbid Miami
Cody Campbell ain’t f ing around!!!!

TT is in it to win it
The upgrades they have made to that stadium/facilities are ridiculous
Everything they are doing is top shelf
Amazing atmosphere and energy as well

I have this voice in my head telling me Mario and/or Dawson taking Bailey would be the make up for not taking Mendoza last cycle...

Not saying the results would be the same necessarily but there must have been some warts that caused them to let Mendoza go to Indiana... Maybe they won't let Bailey's warts do the same...

IDK. I think they can do much better than Bailey. Not sure who that would be but I don't see him being "the guy"

Or, hear me out, maybe it is not as much about the player as it was always about Mario/Dawsons approach/playcalling/adapting to personnel.

The look and feel in the last game looked much different than it has once we put enough out there for opposing teams to hone in on our tendencies.

I have asked myself these two questions

Would Beck do better under Cignetti?
Would Mendoza do better under Mario?

Back to your point, I can easily see the same scenario playing out. And I agree we can do better.

FWIW, Bailey might be quick, but I don’t see the requisite lateral speed to be a true dual threat at a CFP level.
