The gaytors play Bama every year? LOL
Thing is when UT and OU officially move over that may be the case anyways due to realignment of divisions.
The gaytors play Bama every year? LOL
Makes sense, but find someone other than WVU.Usually adding a team allows the conference to reopen TV contract negotiations so if that is true of the current ACC deal that alone is a benefit as the new guy can try to fix Swafford mistake
only problem is 4 of those teams have zero interest in playing Alabama annually in their regular season conference schedule. The SEC doesn't need to play OOC games. For example, Bama can play the following teams on an annual basis:
UGA
UF
LSU
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Auburn (forgot about them)
That's 6 top 25 caliber teams on the schedule alone.
True, but the Backyard brawl was a big regional rivalry. Just like NEB/OKL, KU/MIZ, COL/NEB, etc used to be. WVU/Maryland was a big rivalry, with the alliance it would be easier to schedule that game again. And WVU/VT is also a rivalry that goes back before the big East.I have to disagree, on a national level no one cares about WVU vs Pitt...IMO.
WVU to the ACC would make it unbalanced. Hmmmm.....Maybe this alliance compels Notre Dame to make the jump to the ACC because they will have the potential to maintain their rivalries with USC, Michigan, etc.
This must be the biggest joke I have ever heard of.
My thoughts exactly. Just adding WVU makes zero sense. They must have another team in mind to balance out the league.WVU to the ACC would make it unbalanced. Hmmmm.....
The ACC adding value to its television rights is the tricky part, as it is stuck in a lopsided deal with ESPN until 2036 that it signed in order to obtain a television network. The Alliance is not expected to help the conference get out of the ESPN deal.
When Saban is gone it will probably come out what a rigged dynasty’s this was with all the infractions and his players being a bunch of bosworths.
Theres still no contract. Everyone can back out at any given time. Its essentially nothing. The SEC can present something to one of the conferences with a clear plan and structure before the "alliance" has figured something out and the offered conference is out of there.I think the announcement today was to stop the bleeding and panic, while buying time to draft a structure that will work with college football long term. That kind of planning takes years to figure out. My guess is that this evolves once they figure out how to restructure TV deals into something bigger and stronger. This was basically an, "Everybody calm the ef down. We're working on something to protect our interests so let's agree to move forward and figure this out before anybody else does something stupid".
To me, the writing is on the wall. If you agree to schedule games together and make decisions together then you're a de facto conference/entity.
ACC needs someone so they can renegotiate their horrible TV deal. Don't care if it is SW Georgia St or whatever adding someone allows you to redo your contract otherwise they stuck till 2035 or soThere is virtually no chance the ACC takes WVU.
The Alliance is not about taking teams. The conferences don’t need more middle class.
My #2 choice would be Cincy. My thoughts exactly. Just adding WVU makes zero sense. They must have another team in mind to balance out the league.
Let’s just hope that team is ND.
