"The Alliance"

The SEC doesn't need to play OOC games. For example, Bama can play the following teams on an annual basis:
UGA
UF
LSU
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Auburn (forgot about them)

That's 6 top 25 caliber teams on the schedule alone.
only problem is 4 of those teams have zero interest in playing Alabama annually in their regular season conference schedule.

I have to disagree, on a national level no one cares about WVU vs Pitt...IMO.
True, but the Backyard brawl was a big regional rivalry. Just like NEB/OKL, KU/MIZ, COL/NEB, etc used to be. WVU/Maryland was a big rivalry, with the alliance it would be easier to schedule that game again. And WVU/VT is also a rivalry that goes back before the big East.

ACC needs to add a team, WV is just the most convenient regardless of how much value they bring. This would allow renegotiation of the TV rights and can help get us out of that god forsaken contract with ESPN through 2036. Its huge

Theres no contract. This must be the biggest joke I have ever heard of.

So much hype for an agreement that is based on trust. In a sport, where billions are circling around. This **** is sad.

I think the announcement today was to stop the bleeding and panic, while buying time to draft a structure that will work with college football long term. That kind of planning takes years to figure out. My guess is that this evolves once they figure out how to restructure TV deals into something bigger and stronger. This was basically an, "Everybody calm the ef down. We're working on something to protect our interests so let's agree to move forward and figure this out before anybody else does something stupid".

To me, the writing is on the wall. If you agree to schedule games together and make decisions together then you're a de facto conference/entity.

The ACC adding value to its television rights is the tricky part, as it is stuck in a lopsided deal with ESPN until 2036 that it signed in order to obtain a television network. The Alliance is not expected to help the conference get out of the ESPN deal.

Nothing a well-payed lawyer can't fix.

When Saban is gone it will probably come out what a rigged dynasty’s this was with all the infractions and his players being a bunch of bosworths.

Can't wait until chants of "ESPN!","ESPN!","ESPN!" break out at SEC games of future seasons.

Theres still no contract. Everyone can back out at any given time. Its essentially nothing. The SEC can present something to one of the conferences with a clear plan and structure before the "alliance" has figured something out and the offered conference is out of there.

There is virtually no chance the ACC takes WVU.

The Alliance is not about taking teams. The conferences don’t need more middle class.
ACC needs someone so they can renegotiate their horrible TV deal. Don't care if it is SW Georgia St or whatever adding someone allows you to redo your contract otherwise they stuck till 2035 or so

Haven't really had the chance to read up on this yet today. Is notre dame still trying to be apart of the conference without being apart of it? If so, hopefully every single team involved with said "alliance" rallies together and blacklists these ******* losers until they're all in or all out.
