What is courage to some is a total lack of shame and ethics to others I guess. It is great to do what you can to get the almighty dollar, but when you are composed of tax-exempt non-profits you better be careful not to get too greedy. At the rate they are going, I can see a day in the future where college football morphs into a true, for-profit minor league for the NFL where the colleges are no longer affiliated because the courts take away the non-profit advantages for all items related to football.

It was the dumbest system of deciding a champion ever. Which was highly influenced by preseason polls.

I've tried to understand the alliance and what they are getting to, but it's hard. Voting on an expanded playoff doesn't take an alliance. ESPN is saying the vote to expand playoffs must be unanimous. The PAC 12 or BIG could have blocked expansion on their own. But why would they? A 12 team playoff is great for everyone, not just the SEC. Most football fans want to see new faces and places come playoff time. Inviting 12 teams to the big dance will cure that ill immediately.

It’s not great for everyone if most of the SEC teams are getting in. Clearly, SEC is getting away with a lot of **** because the NCAA and ESPN wants a strong SEC presence. The alliance will help bring more balance of power, and possibly more.

How does any of this change much? 2 SEC teams have gotten into the BCS and the 4 team playoff. What about all these other teams in other conferences, does Miami want in even if Clemson wins the conference championship. Didn't the ACC just put 2 teams in the playoff with Clemson and ND? Isn't ESPN providing the ACC Network? The ACC is making a lot of money and has a lot to lose with their ESPN TV contract. Miami's is certainly not in the same situation as even the Pac 12 and their TV contract.

The ACC contract is borderline criminal, it goes until 2035 and does not increase in a demonstrable way. All of the schools are locked into a miserable, uncompetitive financial allotment for 15 years.

I don’t think the Alliance changes that, however. It’s true value is that it creates a power block that can hold up the playoff expansion until it goes to market and create a unified front against the ESPN/SEC hegemony that currently dictates the future of the sport.

I don't think the SEC would struggle with a larger payout by ESPN for the playoffs. A 12 team model would always demand more money. Still seems like a lot of gyrations for a new TV contract that had to be coming to start with. If not ESPN, someone. As long as everyone wants the 12 best teams in the playoff it doesn't seem like a problem.

ACC needs to breakaway from ABC/ESPN as that’s all SEC..ACC should be negotiating with NBC and CBS. Matter of fact, CBS has nothing now that SEC is gone so CBS should be top one. Discuss a package and move on.

As for the B12, the current Commish hosed Cincy and UCF just three years ago. You can argue that the AAC will be just as good or better than the future of the B12. There’s zero position of strength and if I’m Cincy, UCF, Houston and SMU, I call the B12 out and negotiate a solid deal that the networks would like. Otherwise, B12 is history…
