The ACC Championship is meaningless. It’s really pointless right now.

Would we be limping in if we won our final 6 games?
We haven’t won our conference in 20 years+. I doubt a 1 loss Miami team ends up Top 5 without help ( other Top 10 teams losing). So yes, not controlling our destiny because we cant beat teams we should = limping.

What would you call it?

Yes, and there will be top 10 teams losing along the way. 4 of them did this past weekend alone. This isn't college football of 20 years ago. It's not college football of 5 years ago even. If the Canes finish out 11-1, it won't be "limping" in.

So you assume Strength of Schedule , the latest standard teams will be judged on, will come to play?
Right now it’s looking that way if notre dame and USF(can’t believe I’m saying this) keep winning. That would be two wins against top 15 teams

So you are asking this team to go undefeated the rest of the regular season? That’s a big ask from a Mario team.

Give me 11-1 and an cfp. I don’t want anything to do with the acc. Heck, can we leave it mid-season?
Reality check

Mario is not in the driver's seat. Mario was in the driver's sea.

ACC will be 'lucky' to get two teams in and having a spot in the ACCCG would help. Btw, this team will lose at least one more game

I dont know how they are missing that being undisciplined INCREASES the need for perfection. If we cant do the routine (or win the routine games), it decreases the room for error. Mix in a QB without much juice on his balls…..

Canes been losing the same way for 20 years and this is still something we struggle to understand lol.

All these conference championships will be a thing of the past shortly. They are meaningless and just provide for a (fill in the blank) to make the playoffs. Top 12 teams get in the playoffs and **** the rest.
I agree, it is pointless to play the extra game. I would not be surprised if schools opted out of them in the future.

A 16 team playoff would solve this because you can give all conference championship a bye and have a wild game for bubble teams.

With these super conferences with about 30 teams, winning the conference will be difficult.

Sooooo much football left to be played, but 2 thoughts:

1. If the Canes finish 11-1, what are the odds that won't be enough to get in the ACC Championship?

2. If the Canes finish 11-1 and don't get to play in the ACC Championship, is anyone 100% convinced they don't put in a 2 loss SEC team over the Canes?
It would be to difficult to do that because Miami would be top 3 or 5 in the polls

Gentlemen we had this exact conversation last year after the Georgia Tech loss. This is a Cristobal coached team. We will lose one more regular season game.

on the bright side, if we win the bowl game after missing the playoffs again we finish at 11-2. I’m sure that gets Cristobal a contract extension.

I agree, but I also question whether we should play an extra game. OSU caught a break because they were the most rested. I wonder if that plays a role.

But I also would love an ACC championship but if not being in and getting a playoff spot, I am cool with that
OSU got a rest by missing the Big10CG, but lost a rest by not having a first round bye, so I would say it was a wash.

I think it is a bit early.

No reason to believe GT and UVA will not drop a game, or two. Duke took GT into the 4th quarter and shot themselves in the foot. UVA isn't impressive. NC State isn't a conference loss but the Wolfpack are average at best and beat UVA.

Although I expect Mario to blow another game or two the conference may very well end up with ties at the top with 1 or 2 losses.

We’re halfway through the season. The landscape now is nowhere near what the landscape will be at the end of the season. The fact remains, we win out and we’re in.

Whether or not we actually do win out is another story.
