Sometimes its beyond previous records and Xs and Os... sometimes it's " Can this Mfer handle these bad *** kids from the hood"
 
Coaches coach. You can’t win without talent. We need a coach that can recognize the need and fill it We need a coach that would know what to do with the talent.

Johnson went 8 - 4 in the Big 8 conference his last season with OSU. At the time that was considered a remarkable achievement. The conference was completely dominated by OU and Nebraska. Erickson was highly regarded for his creative offenses at Washington State despite his W/L record.

1. Must be undefeated every year
2. Must have a top 3 recruiting class every year
3. Must make every player delete social media
4. Must have an abbreviated name such as CMR, CMD, CMC, CLK
5. See 1 & 2
6. Anyone but Manny

That should be enough to not get a banner after game 1

i'm fine with just #6 right now
 
As much as X’s and O’s are critical on gameday, I’d think this hire has to be someone that has structured a team in the past. We can’t have it all (#1 offense/#1 defense) but we must find a coach with an identity which our team can reflect. Look at Pat Riley for instance, in all his years, Lakers, Knicks, Heat, dude had different players but they all had fight, Pat was also that same type of player. Players feed off their coach. This next coach doesn’t need to correct it all at once, and wont, but we play hard nose ball year in and year out, disciplined at that, and things would look different in coral gables. Sorry for the ramble.
