The 2nd Bye week

There will be nothing cruise control about playing Pitt in the cold on November 29th the way their true freshman QB looked yesterday in his first start. I'll go on record that will be the toughest game left. Could easily be a 2017 type Pitt-Miami trap if we don't bring our A-game.

You guys are scared of your own shadow.

I think most of us here don’t like it. The pressure it puts on us in November etc etc I’m looking at it a little bit differently now. I still don’t like it but could actually be a blessing

A road game where our defense faced what felt like 100 plays

Playing against that trash *** excuse for football with Malzahn and Castellanos to now have to turn around and play Brohm and a completely different offense

Remember when we would play GT and the triple option **** it would be hard to recalibrate to a normal offense the next week?

College football gets so crazy because styles make fights and facing a very capable offense 180 degree different than the week before is a trouble spot

I’ll probably be saying I despise it again when it’s November but suddenly it looks like a good opportunity especially for the defense
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Number one, we just played our biggest rival and what will arguably the be the most physical game we play this regular season. Let’s get some rest in our guys and this gives us two full weeks to prepare for that unique Louisville offense. Also, we are at The almost exact halfway point of the season, back in the days when you only got one by week, this was pretty much the best time to have it. Also, that November slate isn’t looking too tough anymore with how down Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh look. So I have no problems with it now, but in the off-season, I will admit, I didn’t like it.

Missed the game. If they have a QB, it won’t be easy. Wait a sec, anyone looks good vs BC. By November, there will be film to review and lots more pressure on this kid.

Louisville has a bye too is my only thing. It’s still dumb as ****, but I said when the schedule came out that it set up nicely for us to make a run.

Beat Louisville, and Stanford should be a scout team game. If I’m Mario, I’m playing the starters on defense about a half. Then go to SMU. Win that, get another breather at home vs Syracuse. And you’re set up for the last 3.

It’s really, really hard to go 12-0. I won’t believe it till we do it. But at this point I’d almost be surprised if we don’t, which I know doesn’t make any sense. But this team is very good and can beat you in a lot of ways.
Per the usual same page

I think our biggest challenge left is ourselves and the intangibles, not the other teams (though there’s clearly some talent left on the schedule)

I like flushing the emotion and the challenge of facing all these **** running QBs, getting us back to neutral for a minute, and then prepare for a new challenge

Oooh, Mr. Big Bad Message Board Poster is telling me I'm scared. I didn't say I was scared, I said it won't be a cruise control type of game. On the road, in the cold, against a team with a solid QB, good coach, and a good defense. I bet you said the same thing back in 2017.
Yeah it’s tough to play at Pitt that time of year. The wind can be insane and that game we played them back in the day against Fitzgerald was the coldest I’ve ever been in my life (and I grew up around there)

I don’t think it’s always a “trap” when a team loses to an inferior team but when Rosier flat out said he really didn’t take Pitt seriously that was eye opening

Feels like we should be fine with Beck though as far as that mentality

Time to exercise those November demons. If we are truly "back" this team will get the job done.
Yup to echo what OBM said when I saw the schedule for the year I felt it was perfect

Not the bye necessarily but every one of the boxes is on the list and we can check them all

We should beat them. Gun to my head, we'll be favored by somewhere in the 8-10 point range. The key will be mother nature. There could be a 30 degree blizzard or it could be 50 degrees. Time will tell.

I am good with the bye now
We accomplished our goals for the 1st half of the season. Take a few days off and then focus on the 2nd, more important part of the season.
Its hard to say that beating FSU, UF and ND isn't important, but it becomes meaningless if we don't take care of business with the ACC schedule.

You’re exactly right. We actually had a Canes meet up at the game a few years back and it was like 70 degrees and perfect weather. Or it could be a blizzard

I like how we are built to withstand different environments with the ground game and defense

I think we should start looking at the smu game as a possible tough one. Canes will be about -11 or so. Road game in an unfamiliar place.

I haven’t seen smu play this year but Lashlee is a good coach and they have some athletes.

Good thing is we can drop one and still be an at large playoff team with the gauntlet we just went through. But I want 12-0.

I know the focus is 1-0 every week as it should be. But, if we are being honest with ourselves, 12-0 is definitely on the table should we defeat Louisville.
