I think most of us here don’t like it. The pressure it puts on us in November etc etc I’m looking at it a little bit differently now. I still don’t like it but could actually be a blessing

A road game where our defense faced what felt like 100 plays

Playing against that trash *** excuse for football with Malzahn and Castellanos to now have to turn around and play Brohm and a completely different offense

Remember when we would play GT and the triple option **** it would be hard to recalibrate to a normal offense the next week?

College football gets so crazy because styles make fights and facing a very capable offense 180 degree different than the week before is a trouble spot

I’ll probably be saying I despise it again when it’s November but suddenly it looks like a good opportunity especially for the defense

TrumpyCane was going to post the same thing

Defense was starting to get beat up last night and a few guys were dropping

Too true. Man the main reason I was ****ed about that 4th qtr was how dangerous it was for our defense. We put our defense in a really bad spot repeatedly. I was clenching cheeks just hoping to get out of there healthy.

Stupid penalties aside, the reserves came in & gave solid performances by not allowing big plays in that 4th.

I'm with you I hated it before now but I think we need it after last night. We didn't end the game well and I feel like Bain did at the end of the game. As dominant as we were for 3 quarters that 4th should leave a sour taste in our mouths. I want blood for 4 quarters.

The bye week is fine this week we've had the toughest first five games in the country... the issue is playing 8 straight weeks if we make the ACC title game, hopefully the depth holds up and we get a couple blowouts to rest guys. Get a bye to the cfp quarters and we still get 3 weeks off.

Louisville has a bye too is my only thing. It’s still dumb as ****, but I said when the schedule came out that it set up nicely for us to make a run.

Beat Louisville, and Stanford should be a scout team game. If I’m Mario, I’m playing the starters on defense about a half. Then go to SMU. Win that, get another breather at home vs Syracuse. And you’re set up for the last 3.

It’s really, really hard to go 12-0. I won’t believe it till we do it. But at this point I’d almost be surprised if we don’t, which I know doesn’t make any sense. But this team is very good and can beat you in a lot of ways.

Need to play the whole bench in this stretch. Lyle should get plenty of carries here.

It doesn’t really bother me. The second bye is a quirk of the calendar, and when we go back to a single bye next year the timing would be pretty much perfect.

Don’t care about records or whatever, that was a pretty **** tough first five games. All I hear is SEC this and that, but I have to think our schedule to this point is up there with the toughest in the country.

Whether it’s luck, conditioning, scheme, or whatever… we held pretty **** strong and pushed through with very little setbacks in terms of injury or fatigue.

Pretty **** impressive if you ask me.

I hated the schedule breakout at first, but yeah, right now I think we can use it.

I said the same last night in the game thread. What I hated at first may end up not being that bad. Couple songs and tired af. You've played your toughest opponents. Fix your issues and heal up

Back 6 run spread mostly. We should be on cruise control.
There will be nothing cruise control about playing Pitt in the cold on November 29th the way their true freshman QB looked yesterday in his first start. I'll go on record that will be the toughest game left. Could easily be a 2017 type Pitt-Miami trap if we don't bring our A-game.

I will say if our offense could’ve sustained a drive or two in the last 18 ish min, it would’ve greatly benefited our defense…

But yes - bye week will be good for guys like Moten, Thomas etc. Louisville isn’t nearly as dangerous as they were last year. QB play is worse, DL play is worse, both RBs are banged up, and Stanquon Clark is out.

Rest of the schedule is very easy. VT and Stanford are a train wrecks, Cuse backup QB is horrid, NC State and SMU have some fun QBs but very little weapons, bad OL’s and their defenses can’t stop a nosebleed, and Pitt is turning to a true freshman at QB.

If we can finally learn put a team away, I expect to win nearly all of these games by 2 TDs, with more blowouts along the way en route to the ACCCG.
