The #1 reason for optimism this season

lol kayaa one of the best quarterbacks in the country no way. Dude has been nothing but average for us.

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that ur not trolling, but comments like this make it very difficult.

Average? Kaaya was the only true freshman quarterback in the country to throw for more than 3,000 yards, 26 or more touchdowns and 12 or fewer interceptions. ACC Rookie of the Year in 2014, and All-ACC honors this past season.

And that was all done throwing off of his back foot 75% of the time. Just wait until Richt tweaks his mechanics and the OL gives him a bit more time to hang in the pocket and step into his throws. Not to mention a more potent offensive system and a crap load of new studs at WR coming in.

OK, we have talent but is it comparable to Bama, Clemson, Mich, FSU ? No, not at this time. But I might
see us playing in the Coastal Champ PROVIDING the team makes the transition to Richt's and
Kool's system. At worst, forgetting 2016, but putting your money on 2017. In reality I think the
team needs 2 yrs of Richt.

Loser Mentality!!!! Miami has recruited better than any other team in the Coastal for at least 5 years. No were are not as talented as Alabama and FSU but we still should win the Coastal. Two years ago Ga. Tech went 10-2 and last year North Carolina went 11-1 WE ALL should expect that type of year this year.#NOEXCUSES

Miami will play Clemson again in 2016. For sure, we should make a better showing than last year.

We have our most talented players and coaches at the two most important positions on the field.

Coach Richt is a proven developer of quarterbacks and he has one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Coach Kool is the best DL coach in the nation and he has seven high school All-Americans on the DL.

If you're great at those two spots, you will be a great team. It won't happen overnight, but we have the raw materials to get there.

We have experienced coaches in the three position areas that matter most: quarterback, defensive line and offensive line. The fact that Mark is the OC is huge. That's not speculation it's what Jon has said as well as Mike Bobo. Jon is really acting as a GA on steroids and Brown is doing the grunt work.

Brown is a pretty solid RB coach as well and Diaz has done well with LB in the past. We should be better at every position outside of the secondary.

QB - returning starter - Kaya
RB - everyone is coming back and the return of Gus the bus.
TE - everyone is coming back
OL - everyone is coming back plus a few RS Freshmen who may contribute this year
WR - we lose Scott and Waters but Coley and the Freshmen should fill in just fine.

DT - we lose Kamalu and Heurtelou but we got a real coach now...
DE - everyone is back with a real coach
LB - lose Kirby and McCord but Kirby didn't play much last season either. The 3 EE should provide upgrades and we get Owens and Gayot back.
CB - losing Burns and Howard will be hard... not much depth here.
S- Bush was our best safety but we still have Carter, Jenkins, Johnson

K - returning starter
P - returning starter

A real pass rush can make the secondary look better. We lost talent at CB and S but with a QB's not having 15 seconds to pick us apart our pass defense should be just fine.

If Miami won 8 games last year, then improved coaching alone should get it to 10 wins this fall. Defense will be greatly improved. Diaz's defense is most definitely high risk/high reward so will see 2x improvement in TFL and close to 2x in sacks. We will give up explosive plays but we did a ton of that last year with zero reward. So the net/net is much improvement across the board.

Special teams coverage will greatly improve as we signed better athletes. Those 3 linebackers instantly improve coverage and we have some options in the return game.

What I like about the offense is we'll return to more power blocking. We're not athletic enough to be a really effective zone blocking team. Most of our offensive lineman need to cut 10 to 15 pounds which is somewhat counterintuitive for power blocking. Most of them put on bad weight under the last regime. I love Art, but Searles is huge upgrade here.

Where Brad needs to improve is red zone and third down conversion. On the latter we had too many 2nd and 3rd and longs. For the most part Coley schemed well so we were fairly effective in most games early. Where Coley was just dreadful was when the game settled in and he did an awful job adjusting. Here Brad benefits from Richt.

It is absolutely unacceptable to be at the bottom of the nation in penalties. The goal should be in the mid-50s this year.

God bless you Dabo Swinney.

Coach Kool is the best DL coach in the nation.

We went from he's quick good coach, to one of the best, and now we're claiming he's the best in the nation? I think that's highly questionable, but whatever....I just find how his status continues to grow and he hasn't coached a game here or even a practice.

Ed Orgeron is widely regarded as one of, if not the top DL coaches in the nation. Orgeron is also at LSU, a school that gets all of the top tier DL recruits they could ever want. Same can be said for his time at USC. I think we'd all agree Missouri doesn't have the same access to talent or recruiting pool as the others.

Do me a favor and compare the performances and results (accolades and draft picks) of Orgeron and Kool over that time span (2010-present).

With Richt here, Dabo's days of walking out onto the U like that after a game are numbered if not over.

I'm optimistic for the many of the same reasons:
1. Real HC, OC, DC, DL, RB, DB and WR coaches
2. Won 8 last year, no reason we won't win 10 with the change in competence
3. 100% confidence the defense will be unrecognizable in their quality of play and aggressiveness
4. Offense will be more explosive, better red zone play and 17 points per game better
5. Special teams will be a positive factor, score points and change field position
6. If they stay healthy LB'er play will be solid until 3 studs gain experience and ? which one joins the rotation
7. With a better OC and OL coach I'm optimistic the OL can be adequate to solid. Certainly improved.
8. New S&C program, mental and physical toughness will be much improved as well.

From your fingers to God's ears. If we average 45 points a game, we'll be undefeated and in the playoffs.

The schedule is a reason for optimism also.

Quite the gauntlet in October

@GT
FSU
UNC
@VT
@ND

Yes it is! I think vegas is right on the money with 8.5 wins, and anyone who is in the 10 or bust camp is setting themselves up for disappointment. I'd be happy with 9 wins from a more competent product that gets better as the year progresses.
