Try to smile.
Same bull**** from the ND game. Was embarrassing and pathetic. Dawson , with decent field position, 4 minutes, 3 TOs and the 2 Minute stop was playing for a FG. No attempt or even hope of a TD to steal a game. I get that beck had 3 picks but if you don’t trust him he shouldn’t be in. We’re trying to win the game , not appease his feelings. Bunch formations. 3 yard outs . Hoping to make a 40+ FG for what? An OT loss?
Scared to win. Flat out embarrassing.
I am sure Mario will utter his analytics nonsense as well. game was there tom be had but we did lack killer instinct. the 2 yard int. was there to improve FG distance. great teams do not play for a tie at home with all things trending positivelyBeing there in the section behind the bench there didn’t seem to be any sense of urgency… how you didn’t want to push all your chips in when you were lucky to be in a position to win or tie with 4 clock stoppages is mind boggling
Louisville deserved to win that game and we had a chance to steal it and sneak out with a win. Beck was awful all night and he capped it off but Dawson/mario doubled down with that decision making down the stretch
Yeah I don't get this criticism. Our QB was a human turnover and we couldn't run the ball. Proverbial **** sandwich for an OC. More surprised than anything that we managed to drive the ball 50+ yards dinking and dunking while never having a successful play on 1st down on that drive. You all surely had more faith in our qb who’d thrown 4 picks prior to the drive than I did lol
Right on and so nicely said. Dawson and Marion play to LOSE and that's exactly what happened. Was embarrassing and pathetic. Dawson , with decent field position, 4 minutes, 3 TOs and the 2 Minute stop was playing for a FG. No attempt or even hope of a TD to steal a game. Yep, you are right on the nose!We had the momentum at that time. We had 4 timeouts (with 2 minute warning). You play to win the game there. Odds are against us in overtime as Louisville had outplayed us on offense and defense throughout the game. If I'm the coach I'm doing everything possible to win the game on that drive.
Clock management was also crap on that drive. I was screaming at my tv to call timeout when we got tackled with 52 seconds left. Instead they let another 20 seconds run off while we sat on all 3 timeouts. Terrible.
ThisI’m glad this is highlighted. As we started driving, I noticed we were bleeding the clock and it dawned on me, we’re doing the same **** we did against ND, playing for the FG. What’s the proverb? Going to the well one, too, many times? Instead of going for the jugular w all the momentum on our side, we decided to play for a “potential” game tying FG & OT v. the W.
It bit us in the ***.
I agree We weren’t going to win in OT any way. Should have tried to score with all that time left.I’m glad this is highlighted. Shouldn’t we try to run out the clock when we are at least closer to the end zone?Personally, I think you guys are mad at the wrong things here in a way. I absolutely think we were playing for the W in this scenario (I can’t bring myself to believe otherwise, because that would be beyond malpractice), but I also think we were playing the “score a TD with as close to 0:00 on the clock” game too. Which is probably wise - if done correctly, and if it works out. You advance as far down the field as possible while working the clock to the 2 minute stoppage and then step on the gas, get the ball in the end zone with 0:05 or so left. Leave your opponent needing a miracle, or even without a chance at all. I agree with the thinking in general assuming of course that is what our staff was trying to do…but it needs to be executed, and that clearly was above our coaches’ and QB’s heads.
The lack of timeouts when they would have served best, and the atrocious play call on pick #4…left me without words, honestly.
No, hes making these points for arguments sake, he always does, and you're about to fall for the Jagr trap.Completely different situations and the fact that you don’t understand the difference makes your opinion pretty worthless imo
Where is Jagr!!??No, hes making these points for arguments sake, he always does, and you're about to fall for the Jagr trap.![]()
Not sure that’s an earned reputation. For example, he didn’t choke against ND.Mario, keeps his reputation in tact. He chokes in pressure situations.
Yes 100% and that is why I think they ****ed up so badly. Well...one of the reasons anyway. They wasted far too much time - it would have been much more manageable if we had 1:00 to play snapping the ball from the opponent's 30. Of course Beck would probably have thrown up all over himself anyway, so...Shouldn’t we try to run out the clock when we are at least closer to the end zone?
