You absolutely do if the player is not buying in. Absolutely. We did it with Nesta, and he actually had more production over his UM career than Thad has had.

As has already been stated, even Slip-n-Slide Manny Diaz and his laissez-faire staff were disappointed in Thad. I'm not sure what mythical "Thad Franklin" we are talking about who was so untouchable that he should get a free pass for an entire season. I'm not sure YOUR "a Thad Franklin" and the ACTUAL "a Thad Franklin" are the same players.

Again, I'm trying to make this very clear. Plenty of players expressed a desire and willingness to buy into Mario's changes. Many of them even exhibited more effort in the spring and summer than they had previously. There has been an obvious regression among certain players.

Given the number of Manny-recruited upperclassmen that are leaving...there is NO WAY IN **** that Mario threw away his entire first year to carry a dozen or two dozen lackadaisical losers, simply so he would have "roster depth", when he had his first-year-coach "cut them from the team" exemption and unlimited ICs to replace the cut players. No way in **** that he cuts ONLY NESTA and keeps the rest, unless they assured him that they were buying in (which Nesta couldn't even bring himself to fake).

Same reason I'm not heartbroken over losing Jalen and Jaden.

I'd love to see someone name all of the All-American college (and/or NFL HOF) football players who succeeded because one or both of their parents successfully out-argued the head coach for more playing time for li'l Junior...

He does runs like he is 240. He looks like a high school TE running the ball. Slow, no vision or conditioning will get you 3 yards a carry at this level. He needed to go. Dude should have been 220 with burst and a one cut attitude. I am sure it was coached, he just couldn't figure it out. He can go play at a G5 school. I don't see him doing anything there either unless he gets in shape and commits himself to being a D1 running back.
 
Who knows what went down. I’m not going to bash a kid. But if he is not a fit for what is being built then he should leave. Best for both parties. However if he is just frustrated he should sit for a bit because that’s what happens when you walk out on your team.

No idea what the circumstances were surrounding his decision but I really hoped for him to break out. Wish him well at his next stop. Hope he finds what he’s looking for.

Word on the interwebz is that Cheney practiced today and took Thad's reps. Thad said, "I aint playin' that."

And by "that" he meant college football.

whatever happened between him and the coaches that led to him walking off I hope he learns from it and does what he feels is best for him and finds a place where he can be successful. I've walked off jobs before out of frustration. Football fans act as if players owe them and the team their undying allegiance.

They don’t owe fans anything but when they go to school for free and get paid now then fans expect these players to not be entitled lazy pieces of **** who need to grow the **** up.

By that logic every player who has ever transferred was a lazy, entitled piece of sh*t who was scared of competition and needs to grow up. Fans love players who transfer to their program but will incessantly knock ones who leave. Make it make sense. Maybe he and Mario didn't jive and that's ok, not everyone is/will be a fit in this scheme/style of play. ****, he may or may not even leave the team but folks are ready to run him off. Fans needs to get out of their feelings. I hope he does what he feels is best for him and maximizes his opportunities elsewhere should he choose to go that route.

Made a single tackle in Week 9 and went **** up--non-factor.

Thad practicing on Greentree and walks-off? For us, that's like walking-off the field during a championship game.
