Yes it was called southwest tx state until the 90s. It’s outside AustinIs their really a Texas State?
I think they applied this strategy simply because kids don’t have to sit out a year. Once players need to sit a year again then it won’t work.Texas State has north of 50,000 students. And then is exploiting new rules that go social norms.
Texas State will either sky rocket to some type of relevancy, or they will force the NCAA's hand in limiting xfer players.
In an ordinary year I'd agree but this was the perfect year for a school like this to do it, the combination of last years freshman getting a free year and all these guys in the portal with nowhere to go makes this a viable option for sun belt/cusa teams etc.Spoiler alert: this is going to fail spectacularly.
Formerly known as Southwest Texas State. Located in San Marcos, TXIs their really a Texas State?
Haha the fighting Armadillos! Great movie btw.
True. Just to throw out rough numbers...let's say 50% of all annual scholarships offered end up being to Transfer Portal kids on an ongoing basis. That's ultimately 50% fewer high school players getting college scholarships.Texas State has north of 50,000 students. And then is exploiting new rules that go social norms.

Well, w/o recruits there will be no one in the portal.
