the broke down the racial divide at UT and hired a black head coach. they will fire him if he doesn't win, and win soon, and can forever claim they had a black head coach.
 
most teams fire their coach if the coach doesn't win. He will get 3 years to show improvement.

Most importantly he can't be getting blown out by OU in year 2 and 3...that will guarantee he only gets 3 years.
 
Most on this board are advocating giving Golden 5 years to prove himself, yet they're mocking Strong after two weeks?

No doubt. Blow two consecutive Red River Shootout deals and he's gonzo. Strong loaded up on a crap load of SFL players and there's still residual talent at Lville. If he can surplus Texas talent with the same, he'll win there.
 
He just got there. It does actually take a year or two to turn a program around. Just not five years.

ya a team that didn't have its starting QB, 3 out of 5 OL, and its best weapon on offense and a decade plus of soft coaching, poor player eval, poor player development is somehow an indictment on strong.

Lots of mensa candidates in this thread.

Strong has a legit rebuild in texas, and he will get his 3 years to do it.
 
As long as Poops doesnt run a train on Charlie 3 years running, he's gonna get his chance.

But as I stated in threads like this on other sites, the biggest money roller Texas has, and they have a few, called Charlie "a nice assistant coach, but not someone you give the head coaching job to." The AD went around him and he didnt like it one bit as did a few others quietly. I think Charlie will be successful there, the resources are just unbelievable and anyone with half a brain should get 7 wins sleepwalking.
 
Omg don't tell me people are going to start the Strong is a corch s.hit. Just like people said Sumlin couldn't coach.

Charlie Strong is a stud. He'll turn that thing around. Good coaches win. Anywhere.

I really hope they suck forever. Would be great if burnt fired him after no time to do anything. It would be comical & I would love it.

I lol at the fact that Charlie Strong was passed over by $EC schools 'because he has a white wife.'


I lol at Charlie Strong being half good recruiter and half gameday corch.


I lol at Texas, a place where a good gameday coach and developer of talent would absolutely kill it, hiring him.


I lol at the fact that I'd trade Golden and staff for him in a heartbeat, and even throw in a year's supply of Presidente for their athletic director for doing it.
