Type of energy we need to come out with
Not looking sturdy on that ankle
I see us bringing some fast guys off the edge some and dropping the ends every now and then! That will help with containing. Also, I’d love to see us drop Moten in the middle once.. ONLY once.. to create some confusion. Like to see us simulate the pressure and drop guys. Put 6 guys on the line pre-snap.I’ve watched quite a few condensed games.
Agreed play 4 down and take away his first read. He’s good throwing hot off the blitz and that’s where they can get 1 and 7 in space with short stuff.
Defensively they’re boom or bust. Much like Manny’s defenses. It’s imperative we play off our tendencies. They’ll tee off if we go into a shell but they leave a lot of grass open otherwise.
I’m hearing a lot about their trenches. They’re real solid and have some nice pieces, but pound for pound we have the advantage on both sides of the ball. I’d also argue we have much more depth on the DL.
I hope Dawson is watching the Texas game AND the Arkansas game.
I really am curious how Arkansas put up 42 points, 527 total yards ,and averaged 8.4ypc!
We need to figure out the run game and this would be a good time to do it.
Would also give OSU one more dimension to worry about.
Anybody watch this game and know how Arkansas, one of the worst teams in the SEC, was able to expose A&M like this?

We must make them earn the right to rush the passer. Run right at their edges and force them to dedicate themselves to stopping the run. We don’t have ti run for a great average just have the attempts to make them respect it . Which opens everything up.PFF guys said it on the video posted earlier in the thread. On 3rd and 4+ their defense is #1 in the country. But on 3rd and 3 or less they’re in the 110s. Now we know nobody has a good percentage against 3rd and 3 or less, that’s advantage offense. But they’re way worse than average in those spots. That tells me they’re not very good against fitting in the run and the interior of the defense can be had.
And we know Dawson is gonna run himself the football on short yardage. No real earth-shattering **** here, the game plan for every offense on earth is to live in 3rd and short all day. But it’s especially important here because of the contrast in their numbers, our ability to churn out a few yards, and in the event we do throw, Beck’s accuracy and ability to get the ball out to the right guy quickly.
I’ve said it a few times, but it’s eye opening how many big runs they’ve given up. If Pringle can rip off a 30 or 40 yarder on them, maybe two of them, that’s massive for us.

Sack numbers can definitely be goofy I agreeHe's a good DE. He's a bit overhyped imo, but is buoyed by high sack totals (IIRC, he's much lower down the list in terms of hurries). The other knock on him is that he has REALLY short arms for a DE (30"). Bell has struggled with short(er) fast guys around the edge and Howell can get good bend. I have no doubt he'll have a few hurries during the game. He's average against the run.;
