I’m thinking we can run on these guys. That’s been evident from watching these condensed games. And I think Mario will , for better or worse, atleast test the bro ball waters early

I haven't finished all my stuff yet, but it's insane to me how much "good on good" and "meh on meh" there is in this game. It's fascinating. Almost every single thing we do well, they do well on the other side. On both sides of the ball. And almost every single thing we're not great at, they're not great at. On both sides of the ball.

I just keep coming back to the fact that, IMO Carson Beck is a better quarterback than Marcel Reed. And I think that will be the difference in the game. Reed is absolutely capable of beating us, no doubt. We're not playing Brock Glenn on Saturday. This dude can play. But he's really not a great passer. He holds the ball a long time, and because of that, we should be able to get pressure on him. When he's pressured, like most QBs, his numbers nosedive considerably. We know Beck can melt, but he's Top 10 in the country in average time to throw. The ball comes out quick, and when it does, since that usually means it's short (VERY low average depth of target), it's accurate. I think we can keep him clean and he can keep us on schedule, and we can score on this team.

I have said this eleventybillion times on this site over the years, but I just want to see the team play a clean game. Not perfect. I don't expect perfection. We can make some mistakes, almost every team does, in every game. But just play well. No more than 1 turnover. No more than 1 pre-snap penalty. No completely unforced mistakes, like illegal formation or lining up offsides. Very few drops, if any, on uncontested catches. If they block better than us, and tackle better than us, and coach better than us, and rip 50/50 balls from us, and win, I'll be OK. I'll be ****ed, but I'll be OK. But if they beat us because we have 12 penalties, constantly put ourselves in long yardage situation due to dumb mistakes, turn the ball over 2+ times, make a dumb special teams play, etc....I can't live with that. I think we're better than this team. They have a LOT of talent, and it's amazing how it'll match up with ours (their 2 tackles are sensational, our edge players are sensational...there are so many match-ups like this), but I think we're better if we both play well, because I think Carson Beck is better, and that's kind of an important position.

Run the ball efficiently (they are BAD against the run on inside zone and duo), keep the chains moving, let Mali be Mali, and contain Reed to the pocket/make him win with his arm, AND PLAY CLEAN FOOTBALL...and I think this **** is ours.

Dam near watched all their games multiple times at this point so got bored and said lemme watch Elko Defense against Mario/Mirabal Oline and see how they performed against blitz.. Yea I know it was years ago and different offense but Mario/Mirabal run the oline.. Dam, that was a ROUGH game against Duke.. Elko ran those same simulated pressures on 3rd down that force the oline to slide protection one way then they bring heat the other.. We were not prepared at all.. Free rushers, destroyed our QB knocked him out of game and a bunch of free hits and fumbles, forced INTs..

Go back and watch that game. I did. First of all, Mizzou was starting a corpse at QB. Their starter got hurt in the previous game, and their backup made his first start against A&M.

With absolutely ZERO offense, here is what the incredible offense and running game did to Mizzou’s defense in the first half:

8 plays, punt.
5 plays, punt.
9 plays, TD. RBs had 2 carries for -1 yard on this drive, btw.
7 plays, punt.
5 plays, punt.
2 plays, TD, on a drive that started at Mizzou’s 2 after a sack fumble.

Yeah, they just gutted em, let me tell ya.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here. If A&M scores 7 points on their first 5 drives against us, we’re gonna win by 3 scores.

But we don’t even have to resort there early. They trigger fast but their run fits are TERRIBLE. Duo, IZ early downs will actually work. I’ve heard about their 3rd down defense all week and it’s fantastic but what does it matter on 3rd and 2? I see most of our scoring drives being sustained ones my mind won’t change. On defense it’s simple. Don’t blitz and as much as Bain probably wants to punch Zuhn don’t line him up over there, the other tackle does not have what it take to handle him. He can however handle mesidor as he has the tendency to go inside and give up contain. Play 4 down and live in coverage. Reed can’t handle it. I think sincerely we hold them under 24. I’ve got it 31-20 good guys, Final shot

Their trenches are pretty good. not convinced they’re much better talent wise than UF on either line tho even if they performed better. Trey Zuhn actually is a stud. He would be our starter at tackle no doubt. The rest of the line can be had. This will be a shock to them

I want to believe you. I really do.

What the heck are we doing for jet sweep motions into QB draws? If you can tell me our LBs stay sound and true to their gaps, with minimal missed tackle%, I'd only ask you what we're doing against isolation of LBs in coverage. If somehow Hetherman has a plan that works for both, then I do believe you.

I do want you to know that I expect Fitz or Poyer to undercut a slant. Just saying. I don't know if it goes pick6, but they've run the **** out of those plays so often and still haven't seen an opposing Safety sneaky enough to get underneath it.

PFF guys said it on the video posted earlier in the thread. On 3rd and 4+ their defense is #1 in the country. But on 3rd and 3 or less they’re in the 110s. Now we know nobody has a good percentage against 3rd and 3 or less, that’s advantage offense. But they’re way worse than average in those spots. That tells me they’re not very good against fitting in the run and the interior of the defense can be had.

And we know Dawson is gonna run himself the football on short yardage. No real earth-shattering **** here, the game plan for every offense on earth is to live in 3rd and short all day. But it’s especially important here because of the contrast in their numbers, our ability to churn out a few yards, and in the event we do throw, Beck’s accuracy and ability to get the ball out to the right guy quickly.

I’ve said it a few times, but it’s eye opening how many big runs they’ve given up. If Pringle can rip off a 30 or 40 yarder on them, maybe two of them, that’s massive for us.

They have done fake punts, and had a couple punts blocked..
Their kicker sucks and misses alot over 40 yards..
Kickoff returns should be live

There will be a special teams impact on this game.. Lets win that for sure, block a kick dammit

I agree with pretty much all this fully.

I mentioned like a week ago the splits for Reed when not blitzed and not running play action. Stop the run and don't give him easy reads and he will make mistakes. My concern is Heatherman consistently blitzes the nickel/safety, and in this game that is the play that makes it easy for crossing route and 1 broken tackle to Craver/Concepcion to break the game open.

The more I see the more I think our Run offense will actually succeed quite well and we will force them into run blitzes and they will be very susceptible to play action shots.

Regarding their great 3rd down defense. Their average 3rd down distance is something like 8 yards while for our defense it's like 6.5... so sure their defense stops 3rd downs at a marginally higher rate than ours, but they are in much more pure rush situations when doing so which plays into their strength as a Defense. Cause as you point out they aren't REALLY a great run defense team.
