Texas A&M Post Game Plus/Minus

not convinced all these people crying about the offensive system have any clue what they watch every saturday. this was not a game where the offense was broken, or getting dominated, or totally incapable of moving the ball. in fact, we moved the ball remarkably well for a team with no explosive players whatsoever. i had one complaint with the offensive coaching, and it was our goal-to-go playcalling when we ran 3 times in a row from the 10. that was terrible. the rest was just awful lapses in execution. you can't overcome, for example, two straight obvious holding penalties that put you in a 2nd and 30 when you have absolutely *no* difference-makers on the outside. you simply can't.

i mean, i've said this before, but look at guys like achane and a. smith. just watch them play like they did tonight. it's very, very clear that we don't have anyone of their caliber on our team. sad but true!

We can kiss elite WRs good bye in our backyard tbh.. we’ll clean up on RBs & OLs.. but them WRs aren’t playing in this slow pace crap.. imo
The lack of WR is why we lost. We threw a lot. 41 passes. More passes than UGA, Oklahoma, Baylor, twice as many as Oregon, for all the Lane fans, Ole miss passed only 19 times today, to 62 runs, Ohio State...23 passes. The narrative that we dont pass so WRs wont come here is nonsense. The problem is we dont have good WRs. Any top WR recruit or transfer can come in and get tons of opportunities right away.

Long post

I feel like Mario is getting a little bit of a pass here. Kicking those FG late in the game was a head scratcher, can we not throw a ball into the end zone? Have to be a little aggressive down 14 points ( be ready for the jokes about winning with FGS on Twitter) Also vs Southern miss Tyrique let the ball bounce twice and got bailed out cause he was playing a lesser team, they put in X after he did it twice. You knew if he was put back out there he would mess up. Some positives through the game but ultimately it should leave a sour taste in all are mouths cause we were the better team tonight and lost!! Could’ve made a statement on the big stage and didn’t. All the negatives people said about Mario before he got here were on display tonight( i am a Mario guy but still disappointed ) Somebody who is more knowledgeable with the X and Os can explain why we took no deep shots with them missing 4 DBs? Defense played great but I’m still skeptical, this A&M team did not test our speed deep downfield like a UNC team will.

My thought is that I love D Gould and he almost makes me want to get back on twitter.

Thought the offense looked very capable. Missing a couple playmakers talent wise but we looked like a cohesive unit and the OL played outstanding. The run game play call wise is a **** of a lot more dynamic than lashlee or anyone we’ve had in a long time. Red zone offense sucked but that’s fixable. TVD is overrated by the fane base but he also has no consistent playmakers at receiver.

Meat left on the bone for gattis and I get the negativity around the offense, but I saw a lot of positives that I hadn’t seen in a very long time in a big prime time match up

Just made it home. Man, that was an average to below average A&M team so not feeling great about this one. Defense did great overall minus some poor tackling stretches. The WR’s we’re just bad, the play calling was conservative to put it mildly, and much of the qb play was disappointing.

Tough look.

Dropped passes add up and execution errors multiply the effect as the game goes on. The impact of those 2 basic variables weighs on the mind of every stakeholder in the game leading to lowered self confidence and ultimately the outcome we have. I have no idea what this group is going to do to address the drops issue, but the execution in all other areas is coachable. As stated previously if the defense continues at this level with improved LB play we will have a great chance for a fun season of improvement.
