Exactly. They've only been able to buy ONE double digit win season in the last 20+ years.

Absolutely, they could see lightning in a bottle if they buy a transformational type QB but that's easier said than done- even in this new climate.

I'd love nothing moar than to deflate their optimism on Sept. 17. TVD needs to make the leap to the next level if that's going to be a reality.

They might have to significantly overspend there to do it. To use an example, sign Ewers to a $30M/year NIL deal, and Manning to a $30M/year NIL deal a year later. With a sizeable, multimillion dollar bonus to whoever ends up the starter.

Basically, something truly extraordinary and ridiculous to ensure that they have their superfluous quarterback who can do for them what Vince Young did for Texas.

I was thinking just that but wandered if uncapped money will actually help or hurt the ability to stack 5 star type QBs? I'm not sure then at that point the kid just doesn't go somewhere where he'll get slightly less money but is essentially guaranteed the starting job at some point.

What I think happens is that unless an A&M overspends to stack bluechips (like I proposed above), you'll actually see a much more widespread dispersal of QB talent.

Baylor or Missouri might not spend as much as Texas or Oklahoma on overall NIL, but they might devote most of their resources to a halo (i.e. quarterback) signing. So rather than wait a year or two, an incoming four star quarterback goes to a Utah or Virginia Tech or a Maryland where they'll get a disproportionate NIL deal. Now his teammates might get comparatively less and the college might not be as competitive for linemen or other skill positions, but the school can crow about how they secured a high value quarterback.

I always love how people comment on things without reading. They've been upgrading facilities and this is another big *** project they're on.

As for NIL, last year won't be a fluke with them. It's basically buy the best team you can and they're game.
