Don’t shoot the messenger! I’m just quoting the expert. ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid highly praised Miami Hurricanes cornerback Romanas “OJ” Frederique Jr., calling him “arguably the best technician in this year’s CB class.”I’m just repeating what the analyst said!

1. Our CB commits are ELITE asf.
2. We’ve had our top 3 CBs out most of the year.
3. The Hail Mary defense complaints are legit. Wtf is going on there? It’s a low percentage play being competed at far too high a percentage against us.
4. We are stopping the run at an elite clip. I meant ion this because…..
5. Most importantly, we’ve jumped out to fairly large leads against just about every opponent this year. This leads to the other team having to pass a lot. You can counter argue back that because we are up large and know the opponent will be passing we should perform better. Fat remains that large leads means the other team is passing more.

Not disputing that there’s room for improvement with technique and understanding/awareness. But let’s keep it all in perspective.
Thank you for being the sensible one.

Not every day I hear that. 😂

Prior to FSU, the numbers were fine.. but we have started to get real leaky with explosive plays these last two games and we never have had that issue til now..
We've given up 16 explosive (20+ yard) pass plays in our 3 October games. 2 were in garbage time against Pitt. That's 129th in FBS this month, and a bunch of the other teams have played 4 games to our 3. Big issue, especially since FSU and Pitt scored 5 non garbage-time TDs on explosive pass plays. We are the best defense in the country in the red zone, probably should stop letting the other team score from outside of it.

Watch out @RightSaidFred is on a war path. On his way to axing our CB coach he might take a swipe at your knees…

True, but... since you have a penchant for reading between the lines, listen to Mario Cristobal's interviews lately.

I'm not the one you should worry about firing Terry Jeffersion. He wasn't our first choice to hire. Mario doesn't seem pleased with the unit.

If things don't improve, I doubt Jefferson will be back next season. And I won't be the one doing the firing, it'll be our head coach who expects a certain standard.

Yea injuries isn’t an excuse for this, heatherman and the db coaches have to get it right

Edit: AND the players have to play better

We seemed to get off on the wrong foot. My bad. You obviously know about football I just thought you were being a bit extreme but seriously what team do you think is playing the most complete football right now that we could see in the playoffs?

All good. Honestly I think it's us. But that's because some areas of our team are so elite, they cover for the underperforming units.

Say you have to win three playoff games to win a natty. If you have a 60% chance of winning each game - meaning you're the best team and favored each game - you're still unlikely to win.... that's just how odds work (0.6^3 < 0.5).

I want the team to fix the fixable areas - secondary and OL - since the problems they have are all coachable. They're not problems with the athletes themselves being too small or slow or anything. The issues are knowing assignments, and just fundamental techniques that can be taught and drilled. Yes I'm starting to get frustrated with these units... because we see the issues week after week and they don't seem to get corrected.

I want to get that 60% up to like 80%. I'll sleep better.

It's why rat poison will kill you. Teams get complacent and then the stuff that could and should get fixed doesn't... and then somebody gets you. Let's avoid that.

I wouldn’t mind if we explored our options after the season. Mario is the one giving his coaches the recruiting blue print. Bring us a technician.

fair ... but let's look at the qbs we've faced
davis warren
armond parker
gio lopez
angel flores
tate reynolds
ashton daniels
holden geriner

not one (save lopez) is a cfp qb ... we are currenty
107th in passing yds allowed
55th in passing defense efficiency

what happens when the level of qb play increases? also, does it feel like we're improving? i actually see more improvement on the oline than i do in the secondary
Ashton Daniels grades out as an elite qb. I know, i know. It’s still true tho. We also held him to the second lowest completion percentage all year. Would have loved to create the turnovers that Alabama created; however, we also gave up 80 less passing yards than they did.

Davis Warren is top twenty in passing yards in the country. He attempted more passes against us more than any other team; and he had a lower completion percentage against us than any other team.
