terry jefferson

at least he’s not anonymous and can be criticized.
Cool fair enough. That still don't change his play. I've already taken all of my criticism and my credit. It's part of life, let alone a game. If I was still getting paid millions to play this game you could take your shots at me all you'd want. Truly wouldn't give a ****, just like he don't.

when there is:

Poor pass rush
Injuries
Playing with younger guys
Playing 10 yards off the LOS
And you’re not a great corner

Youre gonna give up some freaking yards and see some bad execution.

EOC isnt a great corner. But also include a poor pass rush, having to play with freshman and 0, giving cushions, and injuries/ejections….thats a bad, bad recipe.

My originial comment was in support of Jefferson instead of EOC

We will definitely be tested against CJ Carr at notre dame. Our secondary needs to play their best game of year up to this point against Carr and co on road. Will be a major test. Nd will play their best game of year against us. Count on it. I hope we play our best against ND.

are we ready to have the conversation about the lazy technique we've seen? i know the d-line doesn't have to first rounders, but alot of the issues i've seen is just terrible footwork, no urgency, free releases, not using the sideline as a defender ... @Memnon, would love to hear your take

based on the sample size i can understand the hesitancy to hire, however his recruiting has been a1

fair ... but let's look the qbs we've faced
davis warren
armond parker
gio lopez
angel flores
tate reynolds
ashton daniels
holden geriner

not one (save lopez) is a cfp qb ... we are currenty
107th in passing yds allowed
55th in passing defense efficiency

what happens when the level of qb play increases? also, does it feel like we're improving? i actually see more improvement on the oline than i do in the secondary
I’ve been saying the same thing our DB’s can’t locate the ball and look lost.

On a good note. I don’t think we have come close to peaking on either side of the ball and we are clearly the best team in the nation, in my opinion. If we go up and beat ND in their house, I don’t think anybody can stop us.

It is curious because we have certainly been poor at technique for years but also I think the safeties and Scott helped coordinate the players better last year.

I’ve mentioned it a few times but we also played more split coverage and rolled our coverages differently last year (in big games) which is mostly an injury thing. That helped cover up some serious slackers (Lucas) in terms of talent

I don’t think we can even begin to understate how crucial Scott was to last year’s defense. Bain and Mesidor get a ton of hype, and well deserved, but Scott had everything in shape in the backend. Thomas as well, but Scott was one of the smartest and most instinctive guys I’ve seen here since ST.

I’m going to wait and reserve judgement until we get all the bullets back in gun for Jefferson. I think some of our CBs are what they are and being forced to play more rotational guys as much as we are clearly isn’t going to be as successful as some of us thought it would be.
