The problem with Williams (to me) was he always was a post player who wanted to shoot 3's.
If he had embraced the life of a LB'er early on and put on the weight and embraced the overhang role who rushed the passer, filled the B-gap, and covered the flats, he would've made himself so much money. The length and explosiveness that guy possessed is rare. His problem was he wanted to be a S no matter what and flat told me so as a sophomore in HS.
I tweeted he needed to be a LB'er to maximize his potential and that he even could be a pass rusher if he wanted to really get the most out of his talents. He replied with some language and emphasized that wherever he played in college he would be a S only.
That mindset probably got him to an elite level, so I don't blame him, but waiting until the NFL cost him several rounds of draft status and development time.
Not to mention Miami got a pretty meh three year career out of a 5-star recruit (again). It was easy to see coming when he decided his path before he even got to school, rather than embracing the work and whatever the coaches and program needed from him.
