Telling passing game stats in the last year

-Miami has 9 losses the last 2 years

It’s clear that a big problem in the games Miami has struggled the last 2 years has been related to a non existent pass attack, its just hard to compete in games not having a capable passing attack in this day and age of football. And it’s inexcusable given the talent Miami has on O. In 8 of the last 9 games of the season Miami had less than 200 yards passing.. that’s pathetic and hard to win games consistently like that. This is where Miami needs to make the greatest improvement. This blame should not be put on talent, this lack of production should obviously be put on an incredibly flawed system that was out of touch with modern football which is gone now...

OL AND QB play sucked (attribute that to playcalling or whatever you want) which creates a death spiral on offense. Our o-line was already average to mediocre to begin with and then our QB(s)/passing game proved to be no threat early in games when the o-line might actually be giving them time. Opposing defenses and DCs then feel absolutely no hesitation in trying to expose our o-line schematically because they feel as though our QBs (and playcalling) were never going to make them pay for it.

Soooooooo......if Enos is the real deal and we get ANY consistently competent QB play then watch our o-line all of a sudden not look like a glaring weakness at all. And that's even before one places any expectations on Butch Barry too.
 
4 vert attack for breakfast, lunch and dinner last year. Snacks, too. 4 vert while in the bus on the way to game. 3rd and long? 4 vert. 1st and 10? 4 Vert. 2nd and 2? 4 vert. 4 vert out of timeouts. 4 vert to run out the game clock.

Say 4 vert again, I dare you, I double dare you.
 
Last year it was obviously the TE's . . .As soon as we took them out, we did great . . .

Well done Brock and I agree, the OL wasn’t perfect but far from horrendous either. We don’t go 24th in YPC and not be moving people off the ball - especially given opponents were stacking the box double daring us to pass. Here’s hoping with Barry’s technique background that we see improvement across the OL along with much improved play out of the QB’s. We do both, watch the offense explode for more yardage and subsequently more points.
 
Wow. We had two games last year where we only completed 6 passes for the entire game. THE ENTIRE GAME!!! Pathetic!!! Most good P5 teams can complete 6 passes in one drive. Whats even more amazing is that we actually won one of those games purely on the strength of defense. Only one way for this offense to go and thats up.
 
We probably performed better offensively against Pitt in 2017 than 2018.

Anyone who circles Pitt as an automatic win in 2019 should be permabanned.

It absolutely can’t get any worse than that... anyone not expecting an immediate turn around with a new scheme is clearly not looking at how terrible we were last year on offense specially in terms of the passing game. Immediate improvements are in effect

Imagine if those offensive schemes had this defense.
 
Improve the passing game and punting and we may have run the table last year. You can't overstate the importance of field position and we ranked in the bottom 5 when it came to opponents avg starting field position. If this year's D is within a stone's throw of last year's D and both the passing game and punting improve significantly, we *****.

Predictive play calling might have been the biggest problem for the entire offense. I just remember watching the bowl game and the Wisconsin DBs knew exactly what routes were coming every time and they just bracketed the coverage against a specific route combination. Dan Marino isn't completing too many passes against a defense that knows what play your running.
 
I agree with the comments on the OL not being as bad as it’s made out to be. But its good to differentiate between run blocking and pass blocking. The OL seemed to be a good run blocking unit but pass blocking seemed to be below average. We were 57th nationally in sacks allowed per game, but if you keep in mind we were also 101st in pass attempts per game then the sacks number seems worse. Which makes sense considering how much of a revolving door right tackle was for us last year.

This stat tells u everything u need to know
 
CMR was just a terrible offensive coach. His ideas were terrible. He tried to do a modern offense and made it look prehistoric. All three years he changed the offense. The first time I've seen a coach take what works and toss it out year to year. I remember an anonymous ACC coaches comment saying Miami doesn't even try and scheme. We just line up and say our players are better than yours.
