Tee Martin

So firing a good OC saved his job, or firing one that no one liked saved his job? Just trying to wrap my head around this.

Does Larry Coker ring a bell? Or countless other coaches who are in WAY over their heads and sacrifice assistants in order to save their own ***?

***** a joke at this point. Again, Manny has about 12 hours before it’s time to get the pitchforks. You can’t talk up hiring an elite offensive staff by a certain day and then that day comes and you have hired nobody.
You don’t know if he’s hired anyone, that’s your assumption. You haven’t seen his OC board so you don’t know who he is targeting, who he’s missed out on, who is interested in us. Gawd man like Manny says, this isn’t Fantasy football, you make the right hire not the quick one

i prefer guys that can produce without generational talent seeing as we haven't had a guy like that on our roster in decades. we need an OC that can do more with less at the QB position.

We don't have a generational QB. If he went from 13 and 20 with Darnold to losing play calling duties, how do you think he's going to do here? I can be convinced he'll do well, but I don't see it...

Well ****... I made basically the same post way later... Guess that's why you got the OG handle...

The truth is, the offense he ran at USC was catered to the type of QB they had. Pro-style QB so he ran a pro-style offense. He is an offensive mind, if Manny wants him to implement the spread up tempo, Tee is very capable of doing so. Not to mention the ELITE recruiter he is and the way he will relate to these kids on a cultural level.

So... basically what you guys are saying is that Tee Martin is the “ace recruiter” version of Pat Nix.

It’s been a week. That’s a good amount of time when it comes to hiring a staff.

Again. Im holding him to his own standards. He wanted a staff in place by tonight. He hasn’t made one **** hire. He doesn’t have much time left.

how was his offense doing that first season before sam darnold started playing? howd it do after sam darnold left?

this rumor is an attempt at leveraging more $$ from tenn for an asst job.

Their fans? What in the absolute **** do I care what their fans think? You're on this board and interact with our fans. Do you think that should factor one iota into who can coach and who can't? Fans are god**** retards, they're fans for a reason.
This is a crappy hire, and not the innovative, attacking type I had hoped for. But what do I know, I'm just a fellow ******. Just like you.

Was a very specific tweet though
Who would say let's get it if they weren't going to be together
That’s true but he could just be congratulating a former player of his he probably recruited to USC , or he could just be coming as wr coach , not OC . Basically that’s not enough to say Tee Martin to likely to be named Miami OC

I’m not sure what USC expected out of an offense with a true freshman but I have watched some tape and his offense isn’t bad. It isn’t balls out spread out but it does have motion and a variety of formations.

Posters just keep throwing out USC's stats from when Martin was their OC. Do you not realize how eerily similar Martin's offensive philosophy is to Mark Richt's?

From SB Nation's USC site in 2017:

Here is the bulk of the USC playbook at this point: most of the time run out of a 3 receiver set with the TE close on the line and one running back with the QB either in shotgun or pistol formation.
  1. Run between the tackles usually to the same spot and into a loaded box
  2. Quick pass underneath 6 yards or closer to the line of scrimmage to 2 players
  3. Deep pass thrown inaccurately and into traffic
  4. Begrudgingly throw to someone else only on occasion and abandon it afterwards
Seriously, this is pretty much it.

Martin runs the polar opposite of what Diaz has said he wants implemented here offensively. His offense doesn't cause mental stress, feature innovative concepts, or exploit weaknesses. It's line up and have our guy beat your guy. Sound familiar?
