“I feel strongly committed still,” Hughes told On3. “Coach Norvell is the main reason. Coach Surtain too. I got that feeling last year when I was there for camp and those are the guys I want to work with and be coached by. Coach Surtain is a great coach and I want to learn from him.”
“I still want to weigh options, so I will be at
Miami on May 30 and
Syracuse on June 6. Those two schools are pushing hard. I may visit them this spring too, but no dates are set.”
“Miami came in a little later after I committed, but since they offered, they have been on me hard. Coach Cristobal has been contacting me and my mom. They are local school, so it is easy to get to, so that helps them a little. They have new DB coach, coach Harris, and he offered at Florida, so I am still getting to know him. Miami changed a lot of the defensive staff, so I am still learning the system too, but Miami is a school I am looking at.
“Syracuse is too. Coach
Fran Brown was recruiting me at Georgia, so we have a good relationship with him. He came by the school right when he got the Syracuse job and he has been on me hard. Coach Schaefer has too.”
“Florida State is getting the last official visit, so they will get the chance to make the last impression,” Hughes said. “I was back there on Feb. 2 and the people there are great. Now I want to take my visits and see how those go.”
