To anyone who may know @gogeta4
@Lance Roffers @LuCane @Cribby @Memnon @Brooklyndee

Why does our OL run such tight splits? What advantage does that give us in doing so? I noticed during the game and it really stood out to me. I don't remember having such tight splits last year but I could be mistaken. I appreciate any input on this as I know so little about Offensive Line play in the technical sense. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar question in the past, mainly when Richt took over and found this article helpful. Specific to what UM is running, I'd wager it's being done to protects outside throws, facilitate communication and zone blocking concepts.

Lance needs to find out what happened to that porno couch

Thanks! I read through the Lance post quickly so I must have skimmed over all of that. It makes great sense and I now understand more of what Mirabal is trying to accomplish. Thanks again for the very in depth response and explanation!
thank @Lance Roffers

I was just on the floor with my crayons and coloring book keeping myself busy

Remember Wake split the OL so wide in 2013 it gave Miami trouble for most of the game. Of course Dorito took forever to adjust to that.
I remember that vividly. I also remember that it took the goof ball halfway into the 3rd quarter before he finally figured out thst he could send a LB on a blitz through the A gap to disrupt their offense. Just a total dipstick!

nice just asked this lol

But to me people talk about it as short splits vs wide splits, when the real question is why short splits vs more "normal" splits... It's not like in the NFL anyone is using wide *** air raid splits...

double team tandem heavy.

Lance answer is 100percent true.

Any video i see of Mirabal coaching the lineman are usuallyw orking double teams lol....maybe its because the beginning of practice but they are FORVER doing it.

Me personally im a fan of the wider splits but as stated we do alot of shift sand bringing te's across etc.... Itw orks for what we are trying to do.

Makes complete sense! I'm also a fan of wider splits but you're right in that it works for what we do.

Quick followup question for you @gogeta4 Do you think that the tight splits affect the ability to produce explosive inside runs? I know in theory that we are working a lot of double teams but the tight splits will also draw defenders that will likely be packed in as well. We will certainly wear teams down by landing what are essentially body blows for 3-5 yard gains with the interior rushing attack but will we also be able to effectively crease teams inside for sizeable/potentially explosive gains?
