TE usage under Lashlee

I’m curious to see how our tight ends perform in this offense. I haven’t watched too much tape on Lashlees offense, but the talent we have in that room is elite imo. We have Brevin (elite just needs to stay healthy) ... Mallory really stepped up his game in the latter part of the season and has big potential.... Hodges who I think is slept on but is kind of a hybrid, and finally Mammarelli who according to reports was impressing in practice. Not to mention SMU’s TE had a very productive season last year.... just wondering what are you guys thoughts on the TE situation with Lashlee?
If he runs the same O from SMU the TE's will be on the field at the same time a good amount, and used a chit ton. TE at SMU had almost 17 yards per catch and 9 TD's, other one had a couple TD's too but was mostly a blocker

Brevin balls out if healthy but man if we can get Mallory playing with confidence look out.. always thought he had more upside but he’s gotta get it together from the neck up.

For 25yrs we've made a mockery of CFB with TE usage, playing with Non Mobile QBs........
Imagine the carnage we'd inflict with our TEs with a mobile QB....

This is the truth. 12 personnel spread with 10 personnel subs should destroy any and everyone. We have tons of guys that can slot into these offensive sets. Most importantly, we have 15 rbs in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach on an annual basis that can destroy the space opened up with these kind of splits.

Thought I read that Lashlee’s TE @ SMU had more REC yds than our leading WR (KJ?) last year.

What I am hoping to see this season (that we should have seen last season) is a lot of hurry up with the TE's lined up tight to the line AND out towards the sideline as WRs depending on the defensive personnel and coverages on the field..

I seriously believe that teams will not be able to keep up with us because they will not know what kind of defensive players to keep out there if our TEs are moved around and we keep up the pace to eliminate them from substituting.

proche was such a beast
And he wasn't some elite God-tier 5-star coming out of High School either, he was a regular ol' 3-star.

This is what I've been explaining for months on here, the system can take a mid-level 3-star & have him produce like one of the best players in college, Proche literally lead the nation receptions & was top 10 in yards.

It's been super frustrating having to argue with people all offseason who still think we're running the Enox Central Michigan express & we still have Jarren at QB lol.

Like we have an uptempo scheme with a QB like D'Eriq King, a good RB stable, arguably the deepest TE group in the ACC & 8 capable WR's who were all (but one) ranked higher than SMU's WR's coming out of HS. I understand they haven't produced yet so our fans can't wrap their heads around the idea of our WR's actually making plays in a better system but idk how anybody can look at the offense we ran last year & think our WR's will still be bad in a completely different system...

Look at how productive Tutu Atwell was last year, 70rec 1,276yds & 12TD's, a 5'8 155lbs 3-star ATH who played QB in HS & is legitimately one of the most dangerous WR's in the ACC, does anybody with half a brain thinks that kid would've done that in Enox's offense? The point being, Satterfield's system utilized his skill set & maximized his ability turning him into weapon for Louisville.

The offensive system you run matters just as much as the quality of players you have in it, the people writing off our WR's prematurely are dumb AF, the Air Raid/spread passing attack opens up the field & creates productivity that even mid level 3-stars can thrive in.

Gfather in reference to the last paragraph. What can we expect from tbe run scheme when the air raid starts opening up the field?

The Arkansas/Auburn run scheme, that's the system that Lashlee comes from under Malzahn.

Our offense will be the SMU Air Raid mixed with the Arkansas/Auburn run game, basically a very similar scheme to what Lincoln Riley runs at Oklahoma, Air Raid passing attack, with Zone run game. It's an adaptation that the smart Leach disciples added to their offense instead of running the 90/10 Pass only Air Raid.

It's quick inside zone run game that's predicated on getting the ball to the RB & having him hit the hole & go, it's not a long developing slow cut back style run game where the backside end goes unblocked & blows up the runner in the backfield, it's a quick tempo straight ahead blocks with maybe a Guard pulling depending on where your lined up on the hashes, but mostly it's all about just hitting hole with quickness & gaining easy 5-7 yard gains to set up for the ball fake from the QB to keep the Safeties at bay.

SMU's lead RB Xavier Jones rushed for 1,276yds & 23TD's at 5.3 yards per carry last year & he was a low rated 3-star with an 81 rating coming out of High school.

Their second RB Ke'Mon Freeman rushed for 517yds & 5TD's as a RB2, he was a low ranked Dual threat QB with an 80 rating coming out of HS & converted to RB in college.

Point being, the scheme took very average players & gave them very good production.

Any delay draw plays expected. My low iq football self has an affinity for that play....

Got me looking forward to seeing Jaylan Knighton in this system.

And that was with Shane at qb who was not a dual threat. You add that to the mix and that greases the wheels even more with a athlete like King just being a threat to keep the ball. You always have to account for him. King is the most explosive player at UM in awhile, offense should be fun as **** to watch just with the run game.

Just to piggyback off of you. The scheme will also make the O-line look alot better. I doubt SMU recruited the best talent at O-line in the AAC.
