TE Gavin Mueller now the #56 overall player on Rivals/on3

New 247 rankings tomorrow and Gaby saying it’ll be a good day for us on that front.

Who on the bench should be starting?

He may suprise but doesn’t enroll till summer and just stated playing football. Odds are he isn’t coming in a playing meaningful snaps in 2026

Get that just think the best kids should play period . They give way to many chances to upper class-man . I don’t believe lofton is the best te on the team .

They are pretty bold when it comes to their recruiting rankings, as they value things like verified measurables, multisport background and other indicators that pop up in NFL Draft picks. They just ranked Colorado commit TE Gavin Mueller (Chicago) as the #56 player in America and the #4 overall tight end. Miami is hot on Mueller and trying to flip him as soon as possible. Here's a summary of their rationale:

- Elite size/speed combination
- Legit 6'5, 250
- Three-sport athlete
- Only 1.5 years of high school football
- 17 TDs from direct snaps and 6 TD catches as a senior.

I did some digging myself, and Mueller's track numbers were pretty eye-popping. He has a 55'2.25 PR in the shotput which, for comparison, is more than Jalen Rivers had when he won states in Florida. He also throws the discus 157'1. And while he won't be confused with Tom Chambers, he can elevate a bit in hoops.

Mueller is a project but has all the qualities of a future elite TE. I especially like the take in tandem with Briggs. Mario is creating competition and depth of talent everywhere. It feels like this 2026 class is as much about lifting the floor at every position as it is about individual talent.

Keep stacking. Go get a top portal TE too. No more relying on a missed eval like Bauman and an injured overweight (probably because he’s injured) Lofton to carry the load.

This kid really might be next. Scored 30 TDs his senior year of HS, and has only been playing football for 2 seasons. His Jr and Sr years in HS. Buddy finished as a Top 80 overall player on the composite as a recruit. Basketball and track athlete. I’m officially intrigued to see what this kid can do, did he get any buzz in the spring?

He is a true freshman this year. But if he is the best we got, I would start him.

If I remember correctly he got banged up and was in a black no contact jersey for most of spring. I don’t think it was anything serious. Heard much more hype about Izzy Briggs in the spring which was pretty surprising

I saw him pop up on coach Sly feed and putting in work with him, thats awesome, especially as a freshman.. Barkate been putting in work with him also but obviously more expected from a veteran player..
