TCU

The three years prior to this one TCU had gone 16-18. Not exactly what I would call a talented roster. Patterson had a really good run but they’ve had one winning season since 2017 and that was a 6-4 team. Their average recruiting ranking is around 30th so they’re not exactly restocking with high level recruits either. Their starting quarterback started the season as the backup so it’s not like they even had some super stud QB to carry them before.
The coaching change was well timed. Patterson did what he could, established them as a relevant P5 program & was obviously on the back side of his good days. It doesn’t mean the standard was lessened (or talent).. it just means that new beginning was needed.

Reminds me of pastors of churches. They move every so often bc they lose their effectiveness. The message didn’t change but the newness did. We can all get stagnant. Coaches are no different. It’s rare to hang on forever. Think Miami’s situation is different.

Air Raid beats "tuff and fisical" Michigan. Mike Leach would have been pleased.

5-7 last year and no national championship since 1938. Miami went 5-7 . Miami shouldn't be far off. Give me Garrett Riley.

TCU as a program had 20 years of consistency under Gary Patterson, who fell off a bit the past half decade—but still had ELEVEN DOUBLE DIGIT-WIN SEASONS over that span and built a quality program.

Over that same span, Miami is now on its SIXTH head coach and has FOUR DOUBLE DIGIT WIN-SEASONS—one of which came the past 18 seasons.

Patterson went 11-3 in 2017, made it to the Big 12 title game and won the Alamo Bowl—before he backslid and the program needed change.

Still, it was TWO DECADES of consistency with the man before Sonny Dykes was handed the keys.

Mario Cristobal is Miami's third head coach in five years and fifth in 17 seasons—a revolving door program that has had zero financial support or consistency for decades; a tear-down team in 2022, where Dykes simply needed to do some patchwork—and had a true senior leader, superstar quarterback under center—Duggan with his 41st start last night against Michigan.

Miami is Miami, dealing with Miami problems. Whatever any other program is or isn't doing has zero bearing on the Canes' attempt to rebuild into a contender.

It's called more Tx players than those..All ttop teams have quite a few of Tx players.

Yet the 2 flagship programs in your State were a combined 13-12, including a team with a losing record with the so called #1 recruiting class of all time with a coach that's going in His 6th year...LOL.

What could have been... if PC Mama at Miami hadn't hired Radio.

Nobody has failed harder than Texas and Texas A&M when it comes to turning top recruiting classes into losers. Keep Texas kids the f away from Miami.

Crown Riley… the definition of doing more with less.

Idk if we can get him anymore but I’d throw the bank at him

I think Riley is not really a thing. He's currently the OC of a team that is playing for a natty. TCU will likely give him a raise, making him one of the 5 highest paid coordinators in the country. He will also be a top candidate for multiple HC jobs next season. At this point coming to Miami is a lateral move and I am not buying the whole "Mario is waiting until after the NC game to hire him" narrative.

Patterson and TCU were ripped off in 2014 from playing in the playoff....they'd have Won it all.

Could never go wrong with good Texas talent but TCU also has players from other parts of the country, including JUCOs and even a transfer from Navy who grew up in suburban DC (Maryland). Talent exists everywhere, just have to do good evaluation.
Texas is always known as the right evaluation when football is considered.
Bama, OSU and Georgia is camping out for the past decade

Sorry, that’s just BS…tcu had a worse record than Miami for 4 straight years And much worse recruiting. That’s not an anomaly or one year that can be explained away, And the big 12 isnt a juggernaut that would skew the record.
Do you understand WHY TCUs record was worse? They had an aging coach and some of the worst injury luck out there. That said, an aging Patterson who was getting stale was significantly better as a coach than Manny Diaz and did I mention that TCU had grown men all throughout their roster, mostly because so many guys got medical redshirts thanks to their run of horrible injuries?

But are they TuFf and FiSiCaL?!
More so than Meechigan. Coach said so...

"I thought we were definitely the most physical team on the field tonight," Dykes said. "We almost outrushed Michigan by 100 yards. Our ability to stop the run I think was a difference in the ballgame."

This TCU team reminds me a lot of our 1st national championship game on January 1, 1984. We were overwhelming underdogs to the (powerhouse) University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, yet the final score was The U 31 - Nebraska 30. I believe that TCU has as good a chance to defeat the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Go Horned Frogs! And, as always, Go Canes!

I want TCU to beat Ga sooooooo much. I love seeing misery on the UGA fans faces. The only reason they beat Bama last year and Ohio St this year is because their dirty a$$ players keep knocking out their star WRs.
