The coaching change was well timed. Patterson did what he could, established them as a relevant P5 program & was obviously on the back side of his good days. It doesn’t mean the standard was lessened (or talent).. it just means that new beginning was needed.The three years prior to this one TCU had gone 16-18. Not exactly what I would call a talented roster. Patterson had a really good run but they’ve had one winning season since 2017 and that was a 6-4 team. Their average recruiting ranking is around 30th so they’re not exactly restocking with high level recruits either. Their starting quarterback started the season as the backup so it’s not like they even had some super stud QB to carry them before.
Reminds me of pastors of churches. They move every so often bc they lose their effectiveness. The message didn’t change but the newness did. We can all get stagnant. Coaches are no different. It’s rare to hang on forever. Think Miami’s situation is different.
