Miami lost to Duke by 21.

5-7 last year and no national championship since 1938. Miami went 5-7 . Miami shouldn't be far off. Give me Garrett Riley.
Record alone isn’t an indicator of the shape of a program. Injuries, turnovers, strength of schedule, momentum, etc all play into that. Gary Patterson left TCU (schematically & talent wise) far better off than Danny Miaz left Miami. I can assure you on that.

PS I’ll gladly Riley

Too much reason here.
All CFB team’s situations are exactly the same.

(do I have to note “sarcasm”?)

Sorry, that’s just BS…tcu had a worse record than Miami for 4 straight years And much worse recruiting. That’s not an anomaly or one year that can be explained away, And the big 12 isnt a juggernaut that would skew the record.

It's called more Tx players than those..All ttop teams have quite a few of Tx players.

Could never go wrong with good Texas talent but TCU also has players from other parts of the country, including JUCOs and even a transfer from Navy who grew up in suburban DC (Maryland). Talent exists everywhere, just have to do good evaluation.

TCU could have faux claimed a natty in 2010 like ucf but didn’t. Patterson built TCU from a low g5 to a mid g5 and into a p5 program.

The three years prior to this one TCU had gone 16-18. Not exactly what I would call a talented roster. Patterson had a really good run but they’ve had one winning season since 2017 and that was a 6-4 team. Their average recruiting ranking is around 30th so they’re not exactly restocking with high level recruits either. Their starting quarterback started the season as the backup so it’s not like they even had some super stud QB to carry them before.
