TCU, USC, U of Wash & Duke

Duke with our ex staff members makes it much more embarrassing.

What should be embarrassing to Miami fans is the fact that Duke's players have more character, work ethic, heart and better attitudes than most of these overrated, soft hacks that dressed out for the 2022 Hurricanes.

News flash, had Mike Elko taken over at Miami, the Canes still would've sucked this year as the roster is full of entitled divas.

Riley Leonard was ready to take over this year, to lead his team and those guys were ready to run through a wall for Elko, as they they're all lesser-talented overachievers, while Miami's roster is littered with overrated-underachievers.

David Cutcliffe turned Duke into a quality little football program—it was simply time for change after 14 seasons. (That said, if Cutcliffe had this year's version of Leonard under center, instead of in a back-up role—the Blue Devils aren't a 3-9 team.)

Miami has been a revolving door for coaches and a dumpster fire for two decades; Cristobal the third UM head coach in five years and sixth in 17 years. (While Cutcliffe took the Duke gig in what was Randy Shannon's second year at UM in 2008.)

Incredible how our fan base refuses to accept just how broken this culture was under Manny Diaz; a little beta, cool uncle who wanted to be liked and accepted by players and not feared and respected—allowing guys to blow off practice and still start on Saturdays, too afraid they would bolt for the portal. The inmates ran the asylum and you're shocked the reacted poorly to Cristobal rolling in with an iron fist and message of working harder than these entitled divas were used to?

The reaches some of you are willing to make due to a distain for Cristobal is pretty incredible. The only thing resembling the old Miami over the past 20 years is the logo on the side of these helmets. This belief and entitlement that the Canes should be more or better than they are—based on what? It's been a garbage-in, garbage-out program since Butch Davis left time (and even then, he out-talented a poorly-run, penny-pinching athletic department.)

Y'all see a fews guys with a modicum of talent making the occasional plays and your emotions trick you into thinking it's the late 80's or early 90's all over again.

Miami has been a middle-of-the-road ACC team since 2004; never winning the conference and only taking the Coastal once—yet you're case-building about 5-7 this year while just glossing over 7-5 last year and a 7-5 average for this program each of the past 16 seasons (118-85 since the 2005 Peach Bowl entering this year.

lol a lot of words.

duke was one of the worst teams in the country the last 3 or so years. the same team and roster we smoked. they took some of our staffers and smoked us at home w the better HC on that saturday (not saying elko is better but he got the better of mario and co that saturday).

it is what it is. the players sucked and the coaches sucked too. this was a failure by everyone who works and dresses for the canes

Like i said the Pac 12 is much better. Washington is a different team, was 4-8 last year, 10-2 this year.

Do you think you are making any viable points?

Yes. Thanks for asking.

Your rationale is that Mario is so colossally bad that he can't even stay close with a team like MTSU. History says otherwise.

Stop lying about Mario's record last year at Oregon. They were 10-3 when he resigned, not 10-2. Mario coached in the Pac12 title game.

Oregon is currently 9-3.

Oh my......

You can't lose the P12 Championship Game if you aren't in the P12 Championship Game. If Lanning had a game this weekend he would be 9-4. That's why I included the regular season only. Lanning's regular season is done.

You still misquoted Mario's record multiple times in this thread. Its tough to take you seriously when you cannot:

1). Get basic facts correct
2). Concede a point, ever.

No, I didn't misquote anything. I compared the two coaches through 12 games, because that's all Lanning gets, since making it to the CCG is an accomplishment.

Who on this board ever concedes a point?????

I would... if I was ever wrong. :beedog2:

this guys seriously trying To argue that 3-9 Stanford and 4-8 usc were somehow good teams in September in an effort to defend Mario…

And you're trying to argue that Mario isn't a good enough coach to beat Middle Tennessee State. So I guess we both think the other guy is an idiot.

Since this thread is trying to prove that the first year means everything, have people really forgotten that we beat Florida State 52-10 two years ago? Norvell was a corch and we wanted him to be the guy forever.

The way y’all compare Miami to these other programs like “it should be a quick fix, it’s being done over there” is crazy. I don’t think some of you understand just how bad the football program has been.

-You know we have 1 bowl win (2016 Russell Athletic) in 15 years right?

-We have 1, 10-win season(2017) in 20 years.

-We have had 20 players drafted to the NFL in the last 5 drafts. Yes, we are averaging 4 NFL caliber players a year. For context, SDSU, Iowa State, Arizona State all put in 4 guys each last draft when we put 1 guy in, during the last round.

Year 2 will be a lot clearer in terms of if Mario can get the ship going in the right direction, but judgement after one year is unrealistic.

Find the post where I said that, and I wont have another reason to think you’re beyond ridiculous by constantly putting words in peoples mouth. Glad Sfbaycane correctly pointed out your neglect for basic facts Or able to concede anything.

and Mario wasnt good enough to beat Stanford during a 3 week stretch where he beat osu on the road, and you seem to want to give credit to Mario for the osu win, bUt put the blame on the players for that loss and every loss Mario experiences. How else would you explain those two games?

I give Mario full credit for that osu game, but the larger pattern of his teams underperforming, playing close games to bad teams, and losing to bad teams is more of a red flag than one game he won in 120 games as a HC.

Can you get me the same data for duke please? Their football record is below .500 for the history of their program…
