Taylor Edwards hired

For every Keionte Scott there is a D'Yoni Hill. We happened to catch lighting in a bottle with the last portal class. I'm ok with using the portal to plug leaks, but preference would be to fix/prevent the leak. And that's what this HC is supposed to be good at.

At the end of the day, it's nitpicking and I know it. We have a **** good roster. It's a playoff caliber roster. It will get better. It's a talking point for when we don't have much to talk about. lol

Yea I’m not too worried about his ability to build a talented roster thru both recruiting n portal, It’s the on field stuff where he has the most room for improvement.

If we can somehow land our Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence we’ll be adding at least two more to the trophy case because the other positions will be stacked especially where it matters most in the trenches

I’m 100% with you the portal makes it so when you do miss on HS evals you can supplement it with players who have produced at this level already Via the portal. The portal had a massive impact on our success this year for example but a lot of our HS recruited guys have also been balling just excellent evals all around as of late
Agreed. People debate portal vs recruiting a lot and I don’t really get it

It’s both and they vary depending on the players available and what we need

Can’t imagine where we’d be without the spring portal additions of Scott, Thomas, and Toure but many swore up and down there would only be leftovers

We’d be playing at the snoop dogg bowl without this portal haul, just some invaluable additions especially Scott that dude has been amazing, one of the better overall players in the country & our coaches saw it b4 anyone else did that makes me encouraged for the future.

I genuinely don’t care about team ranking

Average ranking per recruit matters more to me and we are not overtaking the SEC and the OhioSt Oregons of the world there no matter how much money we spend

So it’s whatever with that stuff

Not saying you’re wrong of course it’s just kind of an arbitrary thing that gets debated a lot
I think you bring up a good point. I disagree, We should expect more especially after this year. 3 five stars should be th minimum. Our classes should be 92+ in avg rank. In th past id agree with you. But USC and ND just put together insane classes.

High school recruiting will be more and more important moving forward

I probably was talking in circles (caffeine) because I do agree with you (lots of layers to this imo) that’s why I mentioned the average recruit ranking

I think we are doing well but can do better for sure

Couple things holding us back:

ACC sucks and kids aren’t growing up wanting to play in the ACC

We can’t even win it let alone dominate it

The ranking services give bias towards the SEC recruited players so some of it is slightly skewed

People say winning doesn’t matter but feels like we have to work harder and spend more than other programs until we establish ourselves more

We should be recruiting at a top 5 level with the amount of money being spent imo
Please let me know what higher rank class from last year you want to trade for our supposedly 14th rank class based off what we saw first year
