I agree but funny how that works
We had the #10 class in the country
If we weren’t in the playoffs people would be blasting Mario for back to back classes that weren’t Top 5 about it not being good enough
Funny what winning does
We should be recruiting at a top 5 level with the amount of money being spent imoI agree but funny how that works

I heard Miami let him go this morning
I genuinely don’t care about team rankingWe should be recruiting at a top 5 level with the amount of money being spent imo
2025 class 3, lowest rated guys are developmental lineman. 4th lowest was an immediate contributor at DT and we'd expect to be like DT3/4 next yr. Initial signs are a hit. 5th would be Marcelin which imo was our most questionable take last yr. Then it was Upshaw who we know was a contributor and will have a bigger role next yr id assume. No, no....it's still a major sticking point to me. I just don't ***** about ANYTHING longer than a day or two. And it's not so much it's only a 10th ranked class...it's more about the back to back part. Thats a lot of evals that absolutely have to hit.
Marcelin appeared to be on most specials to the end of the year.2025 class 3, lowest rated guys are developmental lineman. 4th lowest was an immediate contributor at DT and we'd expect to be like DT3/4 next yr. Wallace was 7th lowest and coming off injury. We will see about him.
8th was Toney which was the biggest hit of like any HS player this yr
Then max Buchanan who imo looks good in backup duty and I think ends up a starting guard here.
Then the two TEs and Wiley. Scroggins and Pringle already contribute...
Like in general you can say back to back classes is relying on a lot of guys to hit... But like early results of 25 class are that we don't really have much to complain about even with all the lower guys. Like sure Olineman will take time. LB and Safety are the major disappointments but even then we got Fitzgerald (and Wiley who we all hope can start next yr)
Our evals have been on point lately & I like this class, character plays a bigger part in evaluations then sheer talent & I think Mario & the staff are leaning heavily into that. Talented kids with outstanding character...we were sorely missing that during the manny eraNo, no....it's still a major sticking point to me. I include the portal when I talk about evals too..Keionte Scott was a grand slam by the staff as well as Jakobe Thomas. I think in this era HS recruiting is still important but the transfer portal lets you add instant impact players where you aren’t forced to have to wait years for players to develop into something, we fixed the secondary in one offseason.. the Woodyard kid from Auburn would be on line 1 if I’m the staff he’s an instant impact player at LB, but I’m with you the evals have to be better in HS at those positions especially at LinebackerHey, I hear ya. We hit on some of these evals for sure. My logic is that I wish we hit more on those positions we still have major deficits at...**looking DIRECTLY at LB, S, DB (to a degree) and outside WRs. ** But really...LB...it's not in a good spot overall and at all. With back to back classes with no true standouts in certain positions, we're going be portal merchants at those positions for at least another year.
With that said, this year's LB class doesnt look like that great either. (Nationwide availability, not our class directly).
It’s tough. I’m happy about the 2025 class as wellOur evals have been on point lately & I like this class, character plays a bigger part in evaluations then sheer talent & I think Mario & the staff are leaning heavily into that. I’m 100% with you the portal makes it so when you do miss on HS evals you can supplement it with players who have produced at this level already Via the portal. The portal had a massive impact on our success this year for example but a lot of our HS recruited guys have also been balling just excellent evals all around as of lateIt’s tough. I’m happy about the 2025 class as well
You’ve for the 2023 class people were thrilled about and it’s been mostly a disaster
But despite being mostly misses you’ve got arguably 3 of our 5 most important players on the team from that class
Just think with the portal being so big the class rankings to me matter less
Not that they don’t matter or we can’t do better it’s just that you see top ranked classes dismantled by the portal
So really long story short I look at the high school and portal results together
