Don’t know if I’ve told it on here but back in 85 when I had just moved to Miami my dads friend was trying to get my dad into a certain line of “work”. He picked us up for dinner and took us to Stefanos on Key Biscayne in his white 450AMG.
Well guess who was siting in the table next to us?
Mfing Ricardo Tubbs!! He was with a white girl with huge silicones and behind a Dutch accent.
Well he was arguing with her about money or some sht and in his best Ricardo Tubbs voice he was saying
“Love!! Love??!! You know what your problem is girl?..... You don’t know the first thing about love!!
you... you don’t know Th e first thing about Commitment, sacrifice, your to young to know about sacrifice!!!
I’m 15 years old and thought it was the coolest sht I had ever seen or heard in my life.
Looking back now I’m like “what a corny mfer”
My dad didn’t accept the lifestyle fortunately all those dudes did at least 15.

I see where your coming from man. My dad was never about that life but grew up with a bunch of dudes in Medellin who were. I moved to NYC in 75 and my dad was already there since 69 and knew some dudes that started movin weight up there since 71-72. Dudes literally would take 2-3 kilos in a carry on back then and the prices were astronomical. Dudes didn’t even consider steppin on it. That’s why the hood bosses made so much money off a single brick back then.
Moved to Houston suburbs in 82 cause moms wasn’t havin it with the “acquaintances” anymore.
By the time we made it back to Miami it was too hot he said and too saturated. And like I said he was never about it really. Real close to the fire but would never stick his hand in it.
Miami in 85 had as many undercovers and snitches as dealers. 80-83 is when a lot of dudes made a lot of Money and got clean. Still happened later on. But those early 80’s my god! It was fertile territory.

it was a free for all apparently. The type of money in my area was crazy...**** up until like early 2000.

But the proximity to the "Cocaine Cowboys" era was interesting..i wasnt even born yet but was hearing about the Joe Lehder's and other big timers from family members since i could speak.
