It was a genius move by Diaz and Enos to bring Tate in. Manny is a big believer is having experience in the room as evidenced by what he did on the defensive side of the call annually.

From Adrian Colbert to Dee Delaney and then this year’s DL. Manny always says that he likes to have guys in the room to teach the young guys how it’s done.

Given the fact that Tate is already 21 and will only have one year of eligibility after this season (I believe he can red shirt), I don’t think he transfers. If so he’ll be back in the same position and will be 23 (assuming a RS) by the time he takes a meaningful snap at the FBS level.

Given all of his athletisicm, dedication to film study, and his competitiveness he sounds like the ideal backup.

He can come in and make some plays, athletic enough not to force it, not afraid of the moment, and has big play potential.

He has also seemed to raise the level of other guys at the QB position which is priceless.

I don’t think he’s the type of runner that you design QB runs for when you have a guy like Deejay Dallas or even N’Kosi.

From the sounds of things, he has ironed out many of the kinks that limited his performance in the Spring but N’Kosi is currently the front runner at the QB1.

Best of luck to the kids though, somebody will earn it.

Apologies if I was wrong. I thought he was listed as a Junior somewhere.

I saw it on 24/7.

But regardless, he is the ideal backup QB. What he’s lacking in talent he makes up for in other areas.

He’ll start camp as QB2 and we’ll see after that. I’m glad he’s a Hurricane.

No, he has 3 years.

The QB hasn't been chosen yet. If Tate earns the starting job, then he earns it. If Perry or Williams earns it, they earn it. Let the coaches do their jobs.

Where is this assumption coming from that tate lacks talent?

I don’t have a choice but to let the coaches do their jobs. However, Tate is an ideal backup QB by most standards.

Tate is that guy you can put on any team and he’ll likely be able to come in and spell the guy. He sounds like a Malik Rosier type of guy which we have seen is capable of winning.

Looking forward to camp.

Well in every other thread I see conversation around Enos having to create a special offense for Tate if he wins.

I also see guys saying that even if he doesn’t win, he can design special packages for him. I was just riding the assumption that Tate isn’t limited and needs special concessions if he is named the starter. It may not be true.

Did you seriously just compare Martell to Rosier? I don't know if Tate is the guy or not, but Rosier was a low-level QB.

Don't speak this evil into existence

In 2017, Rosier was a gamer. I hated watching the games but I was glad he was in my team.

There would be stretches with no completions, multiple three and outs, etc...

And then he would run a couple of draws or improvise and next thing you know, we are able to breathe easy again.

Now what Perry showed last year was how ball placement can extend drives and even lead to touchdowns. He did a lot of things differently and he didn’t have an Ahmmon Richards type of WR.

Everytime we discuss Martell it’s with the expectatio that he’s lacking in some areas. I don’t know where they are as I haven’t seen him but I imagine that he should at least be a gamer.

Where’s this lack of talent being reported? Some sites had Tate as a five star.

I’m not sure if he lacks talent. But from the sounds of things, he’s not the most talented QB in Miami.

And where that comes from is the reports throughout the spring.

A lot of people were in denial about the issues ever having existed but dsdd said the other day that he cleaned them up.

He gets most of his credit on this board from the first drive against the #1 Defense but I saw a balanced attack where Cam Harris had two big runs.

I have not taken anything away from Tate this whole time. If he wins it then he wins it. I just think he’s an ideal QB2.

This.
Of course, you know this does register with most of our CIS family. But good job by you.
