Talk lately has me a little nervous about 2020 football season. Thoughts?

Do you think we will play football in 2020?

Based on the data, then we shouldn’t play football during flu season either. I’m assuming empty stands of course. I’m just talking about players in empty stadiums.

For young healthy fit young men this might actually have a lower death rate than some of the prior flu seasons we have had, especially I believe 2017–2018.

So it’s not really safety first, it’s optics first.

But I think you and gooner are right, one player gets it, and it’ll throw the whole thing into chaos.

Except for the fact that Covid is not like the common flu in many aspects and that's what makes it an issue.... Look I'm all for everything back to status quo, my concern is coming back too early and now we are locked up until Xmas, that is my #1 concern.

Hey man. Hope you're staying up.

Do you think Miami (Fla.) should be the faves to win the division?

Even with Lashlee and King I'm still skeptical that 'The U' will ever be good.

We have stunk since we became 'The U' and must return to being referred to as The Miami Hurricanes.

It worked for USC. They pleaded for the nation to cease calling them 'Southern Cal' and people listened.
I'm still ****ed off I don't get to go to Omaha and now our starting staff may be gone.... you know who this is right?

Slade should come back and be our ace. Keysor could come back and be a weekend starter with the extra year of eligibility.

McFarlane, Garland, Palmquist got their feet wet at least.

Our best hope is that guys like Toral, Zamora, Gil band together and come back to finish what they started.

I wish BVB would come back. CMac is gone and Slade is gone off potential alone I'm afraid. Gil has to come back, he was terrible this season. Toral I'm not sure on and Z either. If they all go we are n trouble, if just Cmac and Slade go I like our team again (not as much as this years). Our recruiting class is looking nice as well......

You’re right it’s not like the flu across the board. We are talking here about fit young men. Not people over 40 or 50... Unless you want to include the coaching staff. All you have to do is look at the data. It’s fairly straightforward unless you just don’t want to see it

No, it lays latent much longer than normal flu, and we know very little about it. Thus my scenario of a player infecting other teams before ever knowing he has it is real. And when that happens, fans or not, it would be over again...…. only this time longer before they would "try" again.

And again what would be the morbidity and mortality of those affected players be, do you suppose? Worse, better, or the same as the flu? And what does “lay latent“ mean? Is that a scientific term?

Yes, it has a much slower incubation rate to when symptoms are shown vs common flu. A player could have it for 2 weeks before showing symptoms thus exposing multiple teams to it. But hey, it's just the flu guys...…. let's get back to normal

Morbidity or not an infected player would be quarantined as would the other players he came in proximity to. I'll let you do the math on that Ace.

The incubation period has a wide range. Look at the CDC data. But again what would the morbidity and mortality be for young fit athletes?

read my post again, slower this time..... and yes it has been proven to have the ability to have a much longer incubation than your "common flu" you unwisely keep trying to compare it too

Most of the income where I live is oilfield type work, oil was $10 a barrel this AM, the lowest I have seen it in 30+ years, so it's rough here .....but the people I know still value LIVING over NO JOB.

If they are here illegally I really don't have any remorse for them tbh, but that's just me

I think it hit $8 before noon.

For some it actually will.

For others, it will mean a fate worse than death from a mental health perspective.

And also for others it will be "it was tough but we made it."
A fate worse than death, that sounds horrible. Maybe rather than the death penalty we should enact that punishment on societies criminals? Really deter them......
Morbidity and mortality for young athletes?
still have not grasped it, have you? even if a young football player does not die, there will be quarantines, and your plan will fail, same as your theory

That’s super great for your buddies. What about the millions of people in this country who are paid off the books who don’t qualify for anything?

The ones who’s legal status here is shaky at best and are living day to day?

Your last sentence strikes at what is destroying sovereign nations.

Why is that fundamentally a US (or European) problem?

I say that 1/2 rhetorical, 1/2 serious.

You are one stubborn dude. My point is it has nothing to do with the safety of the players. It has to do with optics.
