Talent of Teams: Miami ‘01 vs Bama ‘18

What does that even mean? You want to evaluate Miami's talent level over a 3 year period based not on what they accomplished at Miami but rather years later based on what they got done at the next level? College coaches have 3 and 4 years to make these players their own. If they are all that the record books will reflect it, or not.
Stop it....I figured it was only matter of time till you chimed in....Your Program and coach have been paying recruits since Saban got there....That's 100% Fact....your players get to the NFL since forever, and aside from a few...don't do sh*t in comparison to what UM players have done in the NFL for 30yrs....we've had more AAs, more NFL All Pros..and more HOFers than any program in America since 1983....If Butch had a Brinks truck like your beloved coach has had, your run wouldn't have been sh*t....There's a reason why your school has been on Probation more than any other throughout the yrs...

All good coaches skirt the rules—and that's the perfect way to put it as it's precisely what Mario did here.

Saban made a career out of rule-skirting. This wasn't a dig, as much as something that proved how Mario's head works—finding a way to get in front of a coveted recruit, while other great coaches didn't get the same shot.
Rule-Skirting??....You're going to say that all Saban has done at Bama is Rule-Skirting??...That Midget POS and that racist sh*thole of a school has done alot more than Rule-Skirting...While the NCAA turned a blind eye to Bama, LSU and Georgia's Rule breaking....they were too busy on a 4yr Witch hunt for UM Kids who played Pool for $$$$...and a recipient who received a "Used" washer and dryer....

If you are trying to make a point about Butch Davis' recruiting prowess, what is the deal with back to 1983? You're all over the place. For the last 15 seasons under coach Saban, we have been a recruiting tree shredding machine. But much more importantly is player development in that same timeframe. National titles, weeks at number one, and winning percentage are a few of the metrics that reflect much more than talent. I doubt seriously if anyone can find any stats in modern football that will reflect a more productive 15 seasons in college football.

But, I agree, it takes a lot of talent too.

Alabama has totaled 41 first-round selections since 2000. That total is nine better than Ohio State's and Miami's 32, who trail in second. LSU sits in third with 31 with Florida, Georgia and USC tied at 25 to round out the top five.

Alabama has the most unanimous All-America selections of any school with 40 selections. In 2020, Alabama tied a record set in 2003 by Oklahoma with five unanimous selections in one year.

Yes, other programs have done a nice job with player personnel over a span of time and have a lot of hardware to show for it, but this 15-year run has been amazing by most everyone's metrics. It just got Mario hired at Miami.

Agreed, dropping millions before NIL was not rule skirting.

We've OWNED the NFL Draft since 1983....and why are you only going back to 2000??.....go back to 1983 and count the 1st rounders...The 2001 team had 17 1st rounders on it (that's a record...and ALL were Butch recruits) 40 of them also signed NFL contracts...and Lol at "It just got Mario hired at UM" BS.....Mario's hiring had NOTHING to do with his tenure at Bama....Butch was JJ's lead recruiter from 84-88....The majority of UMs Great players from 84-88 were closed by Butch....evidently unbeknownst to you...hence me going back to 1983....Bama players haven't done **** in comparison to what UM players have done in the NFL...UMs Greatest team would take Bama's Greatest team to the Woodshed 7 days a week....

Saban has built a machine at Bama that at this point looks like the Motown of the 1960s where it was a production line. But once those artists left Motown, many of them had zero success because they relied on the machine too much.

I equate that to Bama and the lack of high level success in the NFL once they left Bama. I would ask how many of those 41 first round picks will be HOFers? I think the closest was Julio Jones but even he probably isnt going to make it. That is a pretty telling stat as well. That out of 41 first round picks since 2000..MAYBE 1 will see Canton. That is the more telling stat to me.

Your school has been breaking every F-ing rule imaginable since Saban got there....Your Hardware under Saban is fraudulent....ALL OF THEM....

Saban himself frequently says he may not be the best coach, but he's the best recruiter. Having the top recruiting class most cycles is what has given Bama that 15 year success. Look, Saban is the GOAT. At this point that's not really debatable. When your buddy is the one making/enforcing the rules, you get away with whatever you want. Saban is one of the biggest cheaters in CFB history. The guy created the massive bag game that brings in all that talent. The talent has brought the wins.

Right, but you implied Mario was following what he learned about team building from Butch more than so Saban, when that is antithetical to everything Mario has said and also just doesn’t make much sense considering Butch amassed his talent over 20 years ago and recruiting has changed tremendously since.

It certainly remains to be seen what happens in the League long term, but these are some of the players on the 2018 Bama team:

Mac Jones
Jalen Hurts
Tua Tagovailoa

Damien Harris
Josh Jacobs
Najee Harris

Jerry Jeudy
Jaylen Waddle
Henry Ruggs
DeVonta Smith
Irv Smith Jr.

Patrick Surtain Jr.
Trevon Diggs
Xavier McKinney
Quinnen Williams
Raekwon Davis

That’s an insane collection of talent.

It's encouraging to see that NYSOM is now more interested in blowing Nick Saban than offering afternoon BJs to random CIS posters...

Why is this Clown even on here??...Who drug his Bama *** out from under a rock??...This Dope is actually comparing Bama's CFB & NFL talent too UMs the last 35+ yrs...

Don’t take that NYSOM character seriously either.

Just a couple of weeks ago he was actively fanning the flames of the “Mario is a racist” lie, and he’s been low key shltting on the new regime and just generally being a low IQ provocateur since he’s been back.

Don’t give that misanthrope the satisfaction.

Anyway, bottom line, the way Mario has rescued this past class gives us a reason to be very optimistic for future classes. I’m glad some of Butch is rubbing off on him in terms of recruiting.

... as was Tom Seaver.

Back in the 70's, I met an old timer that sweared that Babe Ruth, who he saw personally, was the best ever, even better than DiMaggio.
My Grandfather, living in Manhattan during the 20s..30s...40s..50s and 60s saw them all...Although Gehrig was his favorite, said that Mantle was the best of all of them...

It’s fair to say Alabama under Saban has fielded multiple teams that would give the 01 Miami team problems. They have a longer history of hoarding talent then the couple years Butch did it at Miami before he left for the fckn Browns??
Butch only hoarded talent a couple of yrs now??...Jesus Ridiculous Christ....you really are Crazy.....6yrs is more than a couple...and from 84-88 he was JJ's Sniper....JJ himself has said on multiple occasions that Butch is the best he ever saw. Bama has a longer History than UM of hoarding talent than UM??....Not in the last 40yrs they MFing don't....Even Golden Boy Namath has absolutely no business in the HOF.....
