Takeaways from last night

He did look good. Obviously, we’re stacked at RB.

But I’ll keep saying the same thing I’ve been saying for years. Stop handing the ball to our RBs out of shotgun when they’re standing still. Get in the pistol and let these guys have some momentum when they get the ball. Let them hit the hole already moving instead of starting from a dead stop.

Go back and watch the tape. Even with Cam Ward, when we went I-formation near the goal line, it worked **** near every time.

Loften is the PERFECT fullback for this offense. Miami used to do this when we had some of the best RBs of all time. I-formation. Pistol. Get these backs moving downhill and let them hit the hole with speed.

I’ve been saying this for years and everyone wants to give me crap about it, but just turn on the tape. IT WORKS.
If one more ****** here tells me to watch the tape I’m gonna throw up

All I’ve heard from the haters since the game ended is, “They aren’t as dominant as last year on the line of scrimmage” and I’m like bro it was Week 1. Not to mention, Stanford was loading the box to stop the run, but our pass protection was very good. As good as our trenches were last year even they improved dramatically by season’s end. Way too early to make a definitive statement about stuff like that after one game.

Yes. The same uniforms that had a patch on the #10 jersey LAST YEAR.

Uniforms are identical to what we wore in 2025.

Leave it to TouchMonkey to bloviate bull****.
Overall jerseys yes but the patch is smaller this year and I’m thankful they did that. It has gotten smaller and smaller each year and I believe where it is at now is perfect. As always takes adidas about 3 years to get it right, but it is better than never

Look good play good

My key 🔑 takeaway- is Mirabol holds the future of this season in his tiny hands. Mirabol has a lot of work to do developing and improving the Off Line to be able to play in the trenches with the Indiana’s, OSU, Oregon in December and January. It is obviously early, but the inside run game, and overall push at the LOS, needs to improve starting in week 5 at Clemson. It is very difficult to beat legit teams and good coaches when you are truly one dimensional. This is the area ill be watching WoW until Clemson.

My take aways
OJ is CB1
Blount is a potential DE1.
97 needs more reps
TE and LB coaching got those men ready! Now keep upgrading talent and experience.
OG,C play has to improve or no natty. Clearly they are trying to get Cantwell more snaps. SJ and Maxx didn’t look like the answer. Sucks that we lost kinsler to Ole Miss. he may have been the starter at RT or OG.

I wonder if they assumed Cantwell and Merriweather could handle Tackle, and Mccoy and Samson would stay at Guard. But lets hope natural in season development takes course by week 5.

O and D looked very vanilla. Seems like they were trying to cement what they taught in camp more than anything. We’ll see the safeties play closer to the LOS and cause havoc as we move along. O line was a little concerning but first game with a new and young group. Talent is there and will grow up. Solid opener and let’s hope OJ heals up.
Didn’t want give famu a lot of tape.

This is a separate issue from the patches, but it seems like the all-white away unis have become the favorite for players and fans. I will always be partial to the white tops/orange pants/black cleats for our away look.

Meriweather didn’t look great in the limited snaps.

We have another week to get lots of snaps for the young ones. We have four warm up games before Clemson and FSU. Then it really is just ND, acccg, CFP. We can’t let any team catch us sleeping or it really narrows our path.

People have a short memory, run game last year was pretty mediocre until the playoff run. Then it lit fire.

I wondered why we stayed almost exclusively in zone when the regulars were in then went to mostly man to man when the backups came in….

Was this a plan to play as basic as possible?

Just an old man wondering if anyone has an answer or if I saw wrong let me know.

Speaking of last year... This year we won by 42 points at their place. Last year, Stanford's worst loss all season was by 35 points - on the road to a team that went to the NC game. They were 4-2 at home - their worst loss at home was by 29 points to an ND team that needed to impress the committee.

It was a solid win.
